I thought I'd give my experience so other potential customers could make an informed decision on whether they want to purchase a deal with Motorglide or not, as i value positive and negative reviews for any activity i look into.
I booked a flight with Motorglide on the 16th of March for the 31st of March. As I live in Nottingham and the event is in Bicester, I took a week off and arrived a day before my flight in Milton Keynes.
I called 3 hours before my flight to double check its going ahead only to learn it has been cancelled due to the weather, so I rescheduled for the Monday. Once again I called 2 hours before my flight on Monday to hear its not going ahead for the second time, so I rescheduled to Tuesday which was my last day. Btw I've had to sort out a car each time to get to the airfield. With each conversation I told Lee that I'm only down for a week.
In a later text message with Lee, I informed him that I would be travelling down from Cambridge to the airfield on the Tuesday, which he himself pointed out would be 1h 45 minute drive away from them. So on my final day, I texted Lee at 9am and received the ok to come to the airfield between 11:30 -11:45 am. I then set off and arrived just before 11:30, looked at my phone and saw a text message from him with a 20 minutes notice cancelling my flight.
Obviously furious that I've wasted time organising this, paying for a coach down, organising cars and wasting ever increasing cost of fuel to drive to the airfield, I asked for a refund. The only positive out of this experience is that Lee and Groupon where quick to grant me this and I received the refund into my account today. Given that other reviewers I read about weren't so lucky, I was prepared to fight this case and take it further.
Another negative to note is the companies lack of communication if they know the flight isn't going ahead. I'm unsure why it was on me only to call the company each time to ask. I also booked a skydive in Devon with friends that has been cancelled multiple times due to Covid and bad weather conditions. Each time we received a text message and email from the skydiving company either the day before or day off our jump apologising and letting us know it can't go ahead.
Given the above, I'd obviously not book with Motorglide in future and wouldn't recommend. Groupon however, are still in my good book and I will continue to get amazing deals through them as I have done in the past as this was my first time even having to request a refund from Groupon.
I bought for my husband as Christmas gift, since the locked was in place he wasn’t not able to use it, when we wrote to them a couple of emails and they said he can use by 28/04/21 but still the COVID restrictions where still in place. We wrote to them again but we did hear and till we decided to call only to be told that they didn’t receive our email and we even though we have the evidence that we sent, we lost £178 just like that!
