- They thrive in full sun and are happy in poor, dry soil
- Trouble-free and hardy, these show-stopping perennials will flower for years to come
- Supplied as bare-root plants, ideal for planting now
- At maturity expect a height of 90cm (35’’) and spread of 60cm (24’’)
- When growing oriental poppies, choose a sunny position in rich fertile, well-drained soil
- Add plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting, mixing it thoroughly and deeply
- A collection of four hardy oriental poppies:
- Beauty of Livermere: bright red blooms with black centre
- Royal Wedding: white petals with a dark centre
- Victoria Louise: apricot pink, crepe paper petals from flowers with black markings
- Queen Alexander: large vibrant flowers, vivid coral pink

The Poppy Oriental Collection is supplied by a third party vendor (Van Meuwen). The bare root plants came in a bag with some soil. I put more compost in the bag (as per instructions to "heel in" the plants) as the weather conditions were not suitable to plant them. After a couple of weeks, when the weather improved I started to plant them and found that Van Meuwen in fact had only supplied five and NOT eight bare root plants. One bag had four (although two did not look very healthy so I will be surprised if they actually grow) and the other packet only had one bare root. I had thought that some of the lumps in the soil which was in the bag were bare root plants. Groupon simply referred my complaint to Van Meuwen who responded that I had missed their 14 day window. Moral of story - check content of your delivery as Van Meuwen and Groupon do not seem to have reasonable ethics.
