The great outdoors is perilous and travellers who find themselves off the beaten track might need some essential survival skills when modern technology fails them. Serious Outdoor Skills set out to educate novice explorers with this one-day survival and bushcraft course (usually £75). The course aims to teach skills like making a shelter, lighting a fire and sourcing and preparing food in the wild, so travellers will rarely be caught unawares.
Serious Outdoor Skills believe that a hands-on experience is the best way to learn, and strive to deliver a professional yet exciting service with a strong emphasis on fun and involvement. Their introduction to survival course teaches explorers all important fire-lighting skills, how to forage for edible and medicinal plants, and an insight into how to navigate without the use of a compass. They also offer a three-day weekend option which aims to deepen these skills, as well as teach them how to use a knife, trap and prepare dinner, and how to signal possible rescue teams. They are passionate about all things outdoors and seek to share their knowledge with newcomers to the pastime, and develop the skills of those with more experience in the field.
