I brought a friend here a month ago, and was very impressed, but not this time unfortunately! I had booked “Sparkling afternoon tea for four of us, with two of us being vegetarians, but are able to eat fish, cheese and eggs, it’s just meat we cannot eat. I rang Belstead Brook Hotel and spoke to someone in the restaurant 48 hours prior to our booking, so that the chef was aware beforehand. On arrival, we waited ten minutes before finding someone in the restaurant to speak to, and when I reminded the waiter of our request, he didn’t seem to know anything about it. There was no one else in the restaurant but we had to wait about 25 minutes before our “ afternoon tea” was brought out to us, and with no apology. Some of the vegetarian sandwiches had “hot” roasted vegetables in, so obviously these had only just been made, and we all agreed that as they didn’t seem to know about my pre-warned vegetarian request, they’d suddenly had to make something up for,us at short notice. Service was polite but slightly slow, though they were busy! Food tasted very nice. Revisited this hotel for the first time in many years, slightly tired round the edges but on the whole still nice.

What a beautiful building, very lush fixtures and fittings. Afternoon tea was perfect, plenty of choice. All freshly made. The staff were very attentive, service was very quick. I was very impressed by the crisp white table cloths. Was a very luxurious experience. I will definitely pay another visit. Thank you Belstesd Brook Hotel.

A lovely experience! Food was delicious, staff were friendly and efficient and social distancing measures in place made us feel safe and at ease. I would recommend this place.
