The staff were lovely, the room setting relaxed and comfortable.
I required gluten free the sandwiches and scones were nice but the cakes were inedible. They did provide me with fruit salad but not quite the same
Lovely afternoon tea. Had a variety of sandwiches, 1 scone each and 4 cakes each, pot of tea and a glass of prosecco each.
Everything was fresh and a lovely setting overlooking The Strand. Great value for money.
Room is nicely decorated and so was the hotel
I'd seen a lot of good reviews re the service but while pleasant, it was not the best. For eg no one came to check if we needed anything.
Perhaps new staff as they seemed unsure of a few things (fyi if you are looking for more sandwiches it's a £5 supplement). A table near us asked for 2 fruit scones instead of one of each (you only get 1 scone of each type), 3 members of staff came over to understand the request and finally the manager told them they can't do that. I'm sure there is a reason but it does seem ridiculous, I would probably check before arrival if you have any requirements as it doesn't seem like they are able to deal with any change. Similarly they said they didn't really have options for takeaway (but did source some cling film and a pot) which seems being ill prepared for an afternoon tea place where this is a standard request to avoid waste.
Again, the price paid via Groupon makes it feel more worth it, the standard price of afternoon being so high but it was not the best place I have been, but still had an enjoyable time
Really nice location, good afternoon tea (with the sweet pastries too sweet for my taste) but waiters not at a level of a 4 stars hotel both from a politeness perspective and lack of knowledge of the serving rules at the table (in addition, you don't spray directly the table after you put it at 10 cm from mine while I'm eating: as far as I know, cleaning products are not edible :) ). I will not go back.
