About The Yacht London
Now moored in Central London, leisure ship The Yacht London has had a long and colourful life. Born over 90 years ago as a survey steam vessel, it was fitted with guns and manned by the Navy during the Second World War. In 1946 it was given a luxury refit and new calling as a VIP cruise ship, entertaining such heads of state as King Faisal of Saudi Arabia and Winston Churchill, who smoked one of his cigars on the top deck. In 2008 it was restored to its former glory in a £1 million project as a floating event venue. Located a short distance from the Houses of Parliament with sweeping views of Southbank, the ship has four main areas over three decks including a top deck terrace and roof garden, Art Deco cocktail lounge and restaurant. All decks can be hired out for parties of up to 250 guests.
