Stop At: Urquhart Castle, A82, Drumnadrochit IV63 6XJ Scotland

Stunning views of castle and Loch Ness. The first real evidence of a castle dates back to 13 fell in and out of the English hands over the next 100 years. It was the clan seat of the Grant Clan in 1689 Urquhart Castle saw its last action when the garrison of the time blew the castle up rather than let it fall into the enemy as they left.

Stop At: Invermoriston, Inverness IV63 7AB, UK

is a small village 6 miles north of Fort Augustus. Most visited attraction is bridge build by Thomas Telford in 1813 and crosses the spectacular river Morrison water falls. This is where we then head South to continue our journey.

originally named after St Cummein who built a church here. The current name was named due to the building of a Fort. After the defeat of 1715 Jacobite uprising the fort and also the village was named after King George11. Younger son of Prince William of Augustus. The same son, later became known as the Duke of Cumberland. The infamous butcher of Cumberland responsible for destroying the clan system after the Jacobite defeat in 1746.

Stop At: Commando Monument, Spean Bridge, Spean Bridge PH34 4EG Scotland

The Commando memorial stands some 17 ft high and comprises of 3 commando soldiers dressed in world war 2 uniforms. Looking south to Ben Nevis in memory of all who died in WW2. This area was their training ground.

Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the British Isles standing 1345 metres above sea level. Venomous mountain or mountain with the head in the clouds

A town in the western Scottish Highlands on the shores of Loch Linnhe and near the Nevis range ski resort. ( population 10500 approx). The town also marks the end of the West Highland way (96 miles) and the start of the Great Glen Way

Stop At: Glenfinnan Monument, NTS Visitor Centre A830, Glenfinnan PH37 4LT Scotland

on Monday 19th August 1745 a small rowing boat landed at the north end of Glen Sheil. It was early afternoon and the arrival of Bonnie Prince Charlie landed, to be met by 50 clan MacDonald’s and there he raised his standard. Also here is Harry Potters bridge (Glenfinnan Viaduct) made famous in the Harry Potter films.

Stop At: Mallaig, Mallaig, Lochaber, Scottish Highlands, Scotland

Mallaig is a port in the west coast of Scotland. The road from Fort William is know as the road to the Isles and from here you can cross over to Skye by ferry. Despite its importance today Mallaig is less than two centuries old. In 1841 population 23 people . here we see the Harry Potter steam train close up

Stop At: Morar Beach, Morar, Mallaig Scotland

From here we can see the white sand beaches, turquoise sea, looking over the ocean to the small isles of Eigg and Rum and further north to Skye. This coast road is known as the Silver Sands of Morar.

Pass By: Arisaig, Arisaig, Scottish Highlands, Scotland

Arisaig lies at the southern end of the Silver Sands of Morar the entire coastline is sublime. To the east of the main road which skirts Loch Nanuamh here can be found The Prince Cave or Cairn where Bonnie Prince Charlie finally embarked for France on 20th September 1746 after evading government troops trying to capture him since Culloden.

Stop At: The Falls of Foyers, Foyers IV2 6XU Scotland

A village on the east shore of Loch Ness 10 miles north of Fort Augustus on the military road built by General George Wade. From here we go down to the viewpoint overlooking the Falls of Foyers a 140-foot waterfall dropping into a gorge on its way to Loch Ness.

Stop At: Dores, Dores, Loch Ness Region, Scottish Highlands, Scotland

Dores is 10 miles south west of Inverness here we find a pebble beach where you get great view down the 24 miles of the Loch. Gaelic name for Dores is DURAS. From here we head back to Inverness, driving past Inverness castle.
