Those who hop into a car with Flatout factory will be doing their own stunts, with 15 minutes behind the wheel to develop skills in performing donuts, short course laps and figure-of-eights, enjoying five laps of the long corner and a hot lap passenger ride. Would-be racers will leap into a track-prepared Mazda MX5 or BMW E36 Compact to learn the basics of oversteer and drifting, with the course (usually £199) lasting a total of three hours.

The Merchant

Flatout Factory lets racing enthusiasts tackle the twists and turns of its Birmingham track, in a three-hour drift racing session to get the adrenalin pumping. Open 8.30am-10pm and offering lessons 7 days a week, the drift team, who compete in venues across the UK, aim to give clients a thrill, as beginners jump into the driving seat and jam down the accelerator.
