Sitting snug in the historic village of Haworth, Ashmount Country House is at the heart of West Yorkshire’s cultural goings-on. Small, yet significant, Haworth is famed for being the former home of the Brontë sisters. Literary enthusiasts are able to explore the Brontë buildings and seek out the sisters’ inspiration in the Parsonage Museum, the 18th century house in which the family once lived. Slightly further away is the city of Bradford, where attractions include the Industrial Museum and the verdant Lister Park. Alternatively, a 33-minute drive in the opposite direction brings visitors to the quaint village of Skipton, with its flowing canals and and 18th century buildings.

• Luxury touches are added to each of the rooms, with many featuring either four-poster beds or private hot-tubs. Each room will include complimentary sherry and biscuits, as well as homemade truffles and a glass of Prosecco.

• The Drawing Room Restaurant serves up locally sourced produce throughout the week. Guests will settle down for an evening a la carte meal on one night, where main options may include seared king scalloped or melted brie tart.

• Those opting for a two-night stay will also be able to tuck into an afternoon tea featuring a selection of sweet and savoury favourites, including sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones and cake.
