Dentists fit clear fixed braces with the aim of moving teeth visible when smiling
About This Deal
The Treatment
The two treatment options are either Six Month Smiles© or Clear Aligner braces:
What are Six Month Smiles© cosmetic braces?
These clear, fixed braces are designed to gently straighten and align the teeth which are visible when smiling. The procedure focuses on overbites, spacing issues, crowding, over jet, open bite, under bite, cross bites and misplaced teeth midline. An impression is taken of teeth before a single or double arch set of braces is positioned and bonded.
How many appointments are required?
Adjustments are needed every two to four weeks over the course of treatment, which will vary in length between individuals, but is usually completed in an average time of six months. Once the course is complete, the client will return to have the braces removed and a retainer fitted.
What is a retainer?
A clear plastic mould which fits comfortably over teeth and which should be worn for a time period depending on the condition of the client’s teeth. It is designed to keep teeth in their new position, and should be kept clean at all times.
What are Clear Aligner braces?
These discrete braces aim to straighten out teeth and close any gaps without attracting too much attention. They are easily removable and fit over either the top or bottom teeth.
What happens at the initial sessions?
A consultation will be performed to see whether the client is suitable. If this is the case, an impression will be taken of the chosen row off teeth and sent off to the lab. The braces will then be fitted at a later appointment.
What next?
Clients will return for x further appointments where check-ups will be performed, lasting up to 30 minutes each. Once started, most cases will be completed within around 6 to 18 weeks.
When should the braces be worn?
People should wear them for 16 to 20 hours per day, removing them for eating and brushing their teeth. The braces can also be taken out for special occasions if put back within a few hours.
