Booked a 1 hour appointment for 12pm on my lunch break. The receptionist took my questionnaire and walked off. I was sat there until 12.25 with no explanation from anyone as to what was happening. One of my staff called to confirm my 1pm meeting and I had planned to walk out but then the dentist came out to get me so I told my colleague I’d be a little delayed and we got to it. I understand delays but I just wish someone had shown me the courtesy of telling me that there would be a delay rather than leaving me sat there and walking off.
Overall, the whitening results were good and more or less comparable to other places I’ve tried (this was my sixth zoom laser teeth whitening and I normally have it done twice a year).
All other clinics have always applied a gel all along between my teeth and my gums which then hardens and is normally scraped off at the end of the session. That didn’t happen this time and I just assumed that the treatment may have changed so thought nothing of it. I’ve never once had any gum issues in all my treatments but this treatment was fine until the third round, when it became a little uncomfortable and a bit painful. It felt like my gums had started burning. It has now been over 24 hours and my upper gum is still bleeding a little. When I booked the appointment I was told that the dentist only comes into this clinic on a Wednesday so there is little point in my seeking advice from them. I just went to my local dentist who kindly had a look for £45 and said that it looked as though some of the gum on my lower jaw had been damaged and that the upper gum had been corroded a little and he could see a little blood (which explains the constant stinging). I was told to rinse with salt water and it’s starting to feel a bit better now.
The third round was definitely the most uncomfortable, especially for my lower gums but it wasn’t unbearably painful or anything like that. I assumed that this was because the dentist used a different gel to the first two sessions which i have never had before, but the third round was not a pleasant feeling for sure. It’s not hugely painful though and it’s tolerable if you try and ignore the gradually developing soreness.
Normally I have always had either 3 or four sessions with just a peroxide gel but this dentist said she uses a different type of gel for the third 15 minute blast because she feels it gives a better result.
Needless to say, I was late for my 1pm meeting but it wasn’t too bad. Unfortunately my upper gum is still quite sore. I go on holiday in 2 days time so I’m hoping it calms down by then. When I booked my appointment I was My teeth are definitely brighter and whiter so I’m pleased with the result.
When compared to other clinics that offer Zoom Teeth Whitening, I would say that this one probably isn’t for me. Very friendly dentist and very informative but I prefer three or four sessions with the normal gel and the treatment is far more comfortable with the protective guard solution between my teeth and gums. If your gums aren’t sensitive then this clinic should be OK for you - but down book on your lunch hour or if you’re on a tight schedule.
