Weekend Break On arrival we were advised our King Room was unavailable due to ladybugs in the room, we were advised we had been upgraded, we had paid extra for the king bed room so was very surprised to be allocated a slightly bigger room but with a double bed, a single bed & a sofa bed, it was a family room. On check out we asked why they thought it was an upgrade as we had been downgraded from a king bed to a double, the receptionist said it was because we had an extra bed and a sofa and the bed we were in was a king, I advised it was def a double but was told it was a king and she will send someone to measure it! We left the hotel and on the way home I checked their website, all the family rooms were a double bed combination, the extra beds in the room were not wanted or needed so def no upgrade to us. You would think the staff would know that which rooms have a king bed, trying to convince us we were in a king when we had spent 2 nights sleeping quite close to each other, I’m 55 and def know a double from a king. The bed was not comfortable, we found it too small & too hard but that’s personal preference. Sound from the room below was heard, early morning a young family quite noisy had us up at 7am and our second night we had someone come back to the room below and were quite loud talking and laughing till after 2.30am, feels like we did not get much sleep, not the hotels fault but just to say the rooms are not soundproofed. The room itself was well equipped, we had a coffee maker & biscuits etc a fan, a heater, tv with lots of channels. Breakfast was ok, we did not use the restaurant in the evening. We did visit the Country Club next door and this was a highlight of our stay, we would love a return visit to the club. The location of the hotel is brilliant, it’s not far from the town centre and the Uber cost less than £5

Nice to be home I used to visit when it was a Lavender group hotel and thankfully it has been modernised a bit. We stayed in room 51 up the narrow stairs and to the very end of the building- an executive room for which we paid more for. The room was clean, well laid out with a decent tiled bathroom and corner bath. I would have thought that the bed would have been a little wider it is only just larger than a standard double within a large frame, that you have to climb in. There are plenty of drink options - with a Tassimo coffee machine and of course a kettle with tea/coffee and biscuits. TV was mounted - didn't use it though. Carpets were stain free and comfortable, radiator was on all night which helped contribute to decent sleep. There was some noise with the contractors doors closing and vans staring just after 6 in the morning. Breakfast was held in a small but nice room- could do with music on all the time though. There was a selection of tasting bread, pastries and many different cereals. Plenty of James, honey marmalade and marmite lol. Since it was quite cooked breakfast made to order- unfortunately it was fried- been awhile since I had crispy bacon! Unfortunately the advertised Bury Black pudding was absent- why in Bury can you not get Bury Black Pudding? As others have mentioned the quality of the sausage was not very good and caused me to leave one of the 2 provided. Service at breakfast was OK- waitress fixed the coffee machine lol. There was no atmosphere in the room unfortunately- probably due to the lack of music. Staff seemed nice upon checking in and out. The hotel is in very nice grounds set off Walshaw road- near were I was brought up many years ago! Strange being back lol. We had a Best Western January sale deal of buy one get one free - however, checked out at 1500 the following day,- no enquiry made as to why. (Nothing to do with the hotel just a change of circumstances).Do not think I would pay what I did for a single nights accommodation- the larger chains offer better value in my opinion. Try this hotel you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful setting and 10/10 for the staff Just a one night stay with 3 friends. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and its very quiet. We were greeted by two lovely ladies on reception who were very friendly and pleasant. Rooms were great, maybe a little dated but very nice and clean and the beds were very comfortable with lovely crisp clean bedding. We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening as we had a meal booked elsewhere but did have some drinks on our return. The barman was very nice and shared his knowledge of the whiskeys they sold.... so we did have to try one or two. Breakfast was really nice. Cooked fresh and was nice an hot. Maybe think about changing the sausages as they weren't very good compared to the rest of the food. We will be back for another girlie night and will try the Stables Leisure next time. Thanks for a lovely stay.
