Relaxing and comfortable Overall the staff were lovely and the atmosphere relaxed. We enjoyed the food and a little time in the spa, which was small, so suitable for short visits. The gym was very good.

Blackwell grange 17/01 Hotel- the grounds and areas in the hotel are lovely, it is evident they have done some recent work for example the restaurant is decorated lovely. Room- we had room 243 which is the pictured room for an executive double. It was very large and beautifully decorated. However - our biggest issue with the stay- is that the room (mainly door) was not soundproofed at all and we could hear the blaring music from the function room until midnight. The noise was 10X worse whenever a guest opened the door to leave the room or go to the toilet. Also because the room is situated above the fireplace area, when drunk guests were leaving they may as well have been in our room. At one point I opened the door and shouted politely for them to quieten down but they didn’t. Food- we had pizza and parmo in our room and it was delicious. Breakfast was also good range and help yourself hot and cold foods. Staff- on day of arrival (17.01) all staff were run ragged and clearly short staffed. The poor girl on reception said in front of us she was going to walk out she was so stressed. This was clearly because they had a staff party that night (made evident by them all sat drinking in front of the fireplace and being pally with other staff). However when I rang to complain that someone had turned the radio on very loudly underneath our room she dealt with it immediately and checked back in with us to see if it was okay. Spa- it’s clearly a long standing issue that they don’t staff the reception of the spa as multiple guests had to go behind the desk and get their one towel. The spa is a small (rather cold) pool, one inside jacuzzi, one outdoor hot tub and an outdoor sauna. It was as nice as could be but because it was so small, literally nowhere to sit or lounge unless in the water, we felt on top of other guests. Guests were watching eachother and waiting for them to move to then go in their spot. We had a nice time here but I think the hotel needs to decide is it a wedding venue, a party venue or a relaxing spa retreat as being all 3 at once does not work. Once couple had their wedding meeting with guests walking past in robes and flip flops. I personally wouldn’t have been happy with this.

Perfect romantic stay The service, food and room were excellent. We’ve stayed at this hotel 5 times now and would not consider going anywhere else.

Returning visitor to Blackwell Grange Hotel Good venue for the short stay, and the rates are fair value these days, with a choice of different rooms available. I try to find a king-size bed, that is not always possible but their doubles are okay and nice and firm (although my wife prefers a softer mattress). On this last stay I have reported two 3/5 scores, because on other occasions we slept better, but during the recent cold weather (minus temperatures) there was a noisy radiator that woke us up early. Otherwise we had an enjoyable time and look forward to seeing them again soon. Great Staff.
