Dining is available at the elegant Carvery Restaurant, which serves a mix of British classics and French-inspired dishes. For a more casual setting, the Balmoral Bar provides garden views, while two further bars offer a wide choice of drinks, including cocktails. Appalling service. Unfriendly staff. Arrogant General Manager. Arrived to an unfriendly welcome at the desk. I was standing in front of a staff member who totally ignored me. I asked if he was the right person to book me in and he waved to one other staff member who was seeing to a line of arriving guests alone. After a three hour drive I needed a meal so went to the restaurant to book in. I was told no more bookings were being taken and I would have to ‘go down the road’ if I wanted to have something to eat. I was a lone 75 yr old woman who doesn’t like driving at night being asked to go somewhere else! After complaining I was able to get a three course meal for £12.50. No choice in this as it was the only thing available, and I was told not to make it known as they had stopped excepting meal bookings. This was seven pm. It went from bad to worse • no dirty cups in room removed even though I was there for three nights. I was told they don’t take them I was to wash my own!! A regular visitor for crufts with dogs bought her own washing up liquid and milk and offered me some of her milk that I gratefully excepted • due to meal situation i knew that when my company arrived to stay the following night I advised ordering a takeaway which we did and set up in a small area outside the bar to eat it. We had bought drinks from the bar prior to this but I bought down a half bottle of wine for myself. We then was taken to task by the ‘general Manager’ for doing this as it was against the rules. But I’m not sure how you can’t get into the restaurant and be told to go somewhere else and then be told off for sitting there with a takeaway. Enough said hold my hands up for wine but my fellow guests were buying at the bar. TheManager was extremely rude because I pointed out theappalling service I’d received over the prior two days. He would not listen and stormed off threatening me with security. Sums it up. Worse hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

what a shame What a shame Don’t belive the photos This was once a very grand hotel now its run down and in desperate need of a full refit Shocking check in with no hotel information given from the lady on reception First time I have had to pay to use the very run down gym Very dated run down room You have to pay for your meal at reception before you dine would have been nice to told this before you q up to enter the very dated restaurant Only one choice for a evening meal and it was a three course buffet soup or pate Roast pork lasagna or fish and a very cheap selection of cakes Crufts was on and the hotel was full of dogs and you could smell dogs everywhere This hotel is run by the Britannia group so that says it all

Terrible Hotel Our 1st night although hotel was busy for Crufts the restaurant could only accommodate food for 50/60 people. If you hadn't pre booked and paid for dinner then tough luck. Room had dampness on the walls with peeling wall paper, broken drawers and after a day away came back to a room that was not cleaned or fresh towels, tea, coffee replaced. Seemingly they don't offer daily room cleaning service... Over charged for breakfast but refused to refund me as booked through Booking.com have to take it up with them!!
