4 month Unresolved Refund issue of 183.25 due to Administrative Overcharge My sister and I stayed at Castle Dargan on 18th August 2025. I received clear confirmation from the hotel in advance that my sister was registered as my guest. Despite this, I was charged for two rooms due to what is clearly an administration error. I have contacted the hotel numerous times by email over the past four months, yet they have refused to refund €183.25 for the second room. This situation has been extremely stressful and disappointing, particularly given the length of time it has remained unresolved and the lack of accountability shown. Until this matter is properly addressed, I would strongly not recommend staying here. Very disappointed guest. Mrs Dunne

Not a 4 star experience We arrived at the hotel our annual Christmas night away to a less than welcoming atmosphere, we also had to pay upfront. The room was underwhelming. We had ordered Prosecco for the room it was left in the room with the heating on maximum so that all the ice had melted and the bottle was in a wine cooler full of water, actually brimming over the top. It was also a screw top. The shower was hazardous to health as there were no instructions on which way was hot or cold. Dinner was the worst experience, we had to eat in the bar with regular punters supping pints, the wrong menu was provided and then we were told that we couldn’t order what we wanted and if we did want it we would have to pay a supplement which was fine but it was their poor service and mistake with the menu that caused the issue. Food was good but not presented or served in a “four star” manner. Wine again was a screw top, at €33 for the bottle. At the end of the meal we were treated very poorly when paying. There was no entertainment in fact the hotel was basically empty other than a hunt ball. We had a terrible nights sleep as the guests at the hunt ball were right outside our room, smoking and shouting. We arrived down to breakfast to find a hungover person in their pyjamas on a reception area sofa. I’m pretty sure there was vomit on the carpet outside our room. There was no one to greet us in the breakfast room and the breakfast itself was not “four star” quality. Poor service from staff topped off a very disappointing stay, we won’t be back, we will stick to Kilronan, tried and tested a real luxury.

Expecting more Was expecting a lot more, bad sleep quality due to noise and air conditioning being broken. Won't be staying here again.
