Great hotel and location Great stay at the Clayton Bristol. Staff were helpful and friendly, location is central. The breakfast offered a wide selection and the buffet items were all hot. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean, the shower could have been slightly more powerful. Only downside was we had booked two rooms and they were allocated completely opposite ends and floors of the hotel, which was tricky to navigate. No parking on-site added extra cost to our trip.

It was okay, not for the price it’s at though. Average with poor breakfast. We parked in NCP Nelson street which is a couple of minutes walk away. I’d say the car park is tightly spaced. On arrival to the hotel it was nice and clean. We had been out all day so decided to take advantage of the cocktail. 10 minute wait on making them they tasted nice. Up to the room, we were in the Print works wing. It’s 2 escalators and a good walk. The room was nice and clean, yet small. The only time I’ve had a smaller room was in central London. It was functional and everything was okay. Tea and coffee were Decaf, but tasted nice like normal tea and coffee. Our room was over looking the big dog painted on the wall, though we heard others moaning about there view. Breakfast, we’ve stopped in Bristol a lot and this is by far the worst we’ve had. Relatively basic choice, small area and had to queue for everything. Seating for breakfast is somewhat a puzzle. Some you get okay seating, though like me you’re at the bottom of a flight of stairs with people bumping into you constantly walking past with drinks and food. Personally, the hotel is nicely located, clean and quiet for a big hotel but that’s all the positives. I’ve stopped in the Mercures in Bristol and all better in my opinion.

Good central hotel We booked two rooms here for a city weekend away with our two teenage children. I contacted the hotel when we booked, and again a couple of days before we arrived, to request that our rooms be next door to one another or closeby. They did not acknowledge this request when we were checked in by an extremely surly and unwelcoming receptionist, nor were we allocated adjacent rooms. We had booked one double room, and one with a double and single (so the teens could have their own beds) and were allocated two rooms with the two bed configuration - not ideal and now what we requested. One of the rooms was an ‘internal’ room with a window overlooking the interior of the building - its view was of reception! Nowhere on the website does it say that some rooms are internal. The other room had a window of the exterior but was facing a brick wall. Do not book this hotel and expect any kind of view. However, the rooms were comfortable and well appointed with good air con and large clean bathrooms. They are also well insulated and we heard no sound. We paid for breakfast included and the breakfast was very good, large selection and very tasty plus a nice restaurant. No parking but the hotel did give us a discount card for a nearby NCP which we used. The full price was £56 for 48 hours but with discount it was only £16.50 which we thought was very good! Hotel is extremely well situated in the old town. We walked to the harbour and all over Bristol and everywhere felt very close and accessible. Location is really the best thing about the hotel - and we would recommend for this reason. There is a creperie next door and a bar called Froth & Fries immediately opposite - so may good options in the area

Great place!!! I always stay at the Clayton Hotel when I’m in Bristol and I totally recommend it. The hotel is comfortable, well-located, and the service is consistently excellent. A special thank you to Tatyana and Hei Man (reception) who are always wonderful, they greet guests with a smile every time and are genuinely helpful and welcoming. Their friendliness really makes the stay even better and is one of the reasons I keep coming back.

A solid hotel - lovely breakfast with plenty of good Vegan food The room was a good size and immaculate. The hotel is well located with an easy walk to the shops. The bar area is smaller than it looks in the photos and doesn't have that relaxed feel in the evenings like some hotels have. That said the bar staff were lovely and smiley - especially the young lad. There is a downstairs "coworking/business/bar area" however it looked closed off. The best part of the stay for us was the breakfast. Vegan sausages in the buffet was a great touch. All the food items are marked up with allergens and Vegan/veg which was very much appreciated by us. Again, the staff were lovely and lively at breakfast. The only downside was the cost - it is rather expensive, especially for February - that said, most of the hotels in Bristol are and I guess this is down to supply and demand.
