A touch of luxury This hotel is beautiful with attention to detail and cleanliness. The family room was spacious a d felt like a touch of luxury. However, the soundproofing is poor so noise from above and the corridor was loud enough to wake us numerous times. Beds were on the softer side which was fine for me but may not suit some. We also had an issue with the electric car charger as it wasn’t working. We weren’t informed of this so had a nasty surprise when we left as needed to find somewhere to fast charge. The staff were aware of the issue but did not inform us until was asked them about it. Overall I would stay again due to the luxury feel.

Great location, so-so sleep We stayed two nights at Dukes’ Academie. Our trip to Bruges was a bit spontaneous and we picked this hotel based on location, price and a few reviews. There are a great many things to like about this property. We loved the location (close to the “main drag” but not that close) and we loved the reasonable price. The entire property has been recently updated, and our room was clean, nicely decorated and spacious. The bed was softer than we typically like but it was very comfortable! There was great hot water in the shower, good wifi, an in-room mini fridge that was put to good use, a small in-room coffee and tea maker, and a welcome treat of delicious chocolates when we arrived in the room. The bar had nice glasses of wine for a reasonable price (but no mixed drinks). The breakfast is vast, although a lot of it seemed like it was designed for easy refrigeration between one day and the next (but the pastries were fresh, and the croissants were some of the best we’ve ever had at a hotel, yay.) We also appreciated the large breakfast room - probably imperative during high season - and the long window of opportunity to get breakfast every morning. The negatives: the main issue we had was the super annoying and completely unnecessary LED light on the wall thermostat that was near the bed and shone right into our eyes all night until we remembered we had a random roll of medical tape in a bag and layered about 40 pieces of it onto the light to get the glow to be somewhat muted. This is one of those “what were you thinking?” hotel renovations where it was clear no one thought about the ramifications of various “improvements.” We despised the heavy perfume smell that permeated the hotel – absolutely no reason to do that unless you’re covering up something. The hotel was pretty quiet but you could definitely hear doors slamming, which might be an issue when all the rooms are booked in the summer. We were not big fans of the very flat bed pillows. Staff were kind but largely uninformed about the surroundings, which we found strange for a hotel in a city like Bruges. All in all, we would say stay here if you can get a good price and the other things we mentioned don’t bother you; we’d probably try our luck somewhere else in the future.

Cosy stay in Bruge Nice location, about 13 minutes walk to the main square of Brugge. We liked the area because it was outside the busy center and located in a quiet area but still have many food options close by. The hotel is chic and modern and everything looks very clean, new and welcoming. The staff were also friendly and they even have a list of food recommendations for guests. There is a possibility for parking (€25/night; write to the hotel to check availability) under the building so that was really handy. Breakfast is also available and it has a nice spread. The room was also clean, but the ventilation in the room is not the best… it was quite stuffy but luckily there is an option to open the window for some fresh air but it can get cold during winter.
