We had the best wedding day ever. We chose Higher Trapp as our wedding venue as the grounds are stunning. The staff leading up to the wedding were amazing especially Megan and Jamie. On the day everything ran smoothly ( ISH) timings were a problem but that was down to us and the photographer. The serving staff and bar staff Joe, Toby, Dylan, Angel, Georgia, Feon and Mia did the best they could as I believe they were short staffed and unable to run the magic mirror leaving it up to the guests to run. My only complaint would be the toilets as they were bad ,smelly and unclean. The rooms were lovely with a few issues with the girly room which was dealt with the next day by Megan and Jamie. Our bridal room was lovely. Breakfast on Sunday was ok the cooked breakfast served but the bacon was a bit dry and tough. Monday breakfast there was an issue that was sorted and all my wedding guests received their food hot and fresh. Debbie and Maizie organised everyone making sure there was plenty of coffee and croissants available. The front desk I remember Holly who was friendly and seemed to genuinely want to help. There is plenty parking all around the hotel. Overall I was very happy with the staff and our wonderful day.

Nice hotel, AI deal was worth the money. Stayed Sunday 21 July 2024 Room 2 for a girlie get together. Check in very easy with pleasant staff, room spacious and clean, couple of armchairs so we didnt have to sit on the beds, tea coffee things and a hairdryer, bathroom clean but quite dated, nice fluffy towels, we couldnt turn the radiator off on a quite warm evening, being safety concious we didnt leave the window open and it was stifling, cold water ran hot for a few minutes - felt a bit fawlty towers _ We had the bed breakfast, evening meal and free bar 6- 11pm AI deal. Our evening meal was lovely and we both enjoyed our choices from the menu. We only had the rose wine, which was nice, but there was lots of drinks to choose from, oddly no hot drinks though on the AI deal. Luckily as it was a warm evening we could sit outside on the terrace, lovely views and birds flying about. Not much ambience in the bar area and the lounge was quite small, being a Sunday night we were the youngest guests (in our 50's) but it was ok as we are best friends who havent seen each other in a long time so had lots to catch up on . Breakfast was great, lots of choice and nicely cooked. All staff without exception that we spoke to were lovely and very helpful. I think it would be a bit awkward if you stayed here when there is a function taking place.

Disappointing Experience Food was very disappointing; we were on the set menu. On the first night the quality was poor and for the first breakfast the bacon was inedible - so tough you could hardly cut it, but worse was to come; when we came to choose for the second night the menu was exactly the same. Protests ensured that there were some changes on the third night but the soup was tomato two nights running. For the fourth night when we ordered they "hadnt decided" what the soup was and the main courses were all items which had already been on the menu at least one of the previous 3 nights. I decided I had had enough and "ate out". I found out later that the soup was again tomato; fortunately I didnt have to suffer it ! The room was ok but the shower which was a disabled unit had a curtain which was too long and the end draped on the floor and was filthy dirty; fortunately this was replaced with another - also too long but at least clean.

A really enjoyable stay Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff do go out of their way to serve the guests and they all work hard. Friendly too. We had a room overlooking the garden and the tea and coffee facilities were very good. It's a 3 star hotel so we didn't expect luxury and there was no fridge or safe. The shower was very basic though, no controls, just turn on and off. I think maybe the hot and cold markers had come off. We enjoyed the afternoon tea. The evening meal included in our package was a set menu. The food was quite good although the gammon was 'chewy' and the salted caramel tart was laden with salt, truly awful. The hotel is a little bit rough around the edges I have to say that. I do appreciate that these buildings take some looking after so worn carpets are not really a concern for me. We were a bit disappointed however with the sticky tables in the lounge and the gas fire was out of order. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and the deal we chose was very good value.
