Groupon’s Guide To West Yorkshire

Approximately overlapping the historic West Riding of Yorkshire, the landlocked West Yorkshire stretches on miles of uplands and steep valleys populated by urban clusters or countryside settings, standing out as a mosaic of interplaying land formations washed by the rivers Aire and Calder.

West Yorkshire is home to the world’s first nature reserve, Walton Hall, and to the scenic Ilkley Moor, the homeland of the country's anthem and set for an array of unique rock formations. Outdoorsy types can embark on a climbing or bouldering adventure on The Chevin, without disregarding the scenic sights of Harewood House.

The riverside remains of the Sandal Castle in Wakefield, the Cartwright Hall and the Royal Armouries Museum are just a few of the highlights that heritage and cultural tourism aficionados can visit while in West Yorkshire.

Very poor experience Unfortunately a true classic Faulty Towers! Was once a country manor and converted some years ago into a hotel. Even more unfortunately now owned by the Britannia Hotel group. I recently stayed on a 3 night business trip to discover that a. The hotel does not offer room service b. The hotel does not offer a room service unless staying 3 nighrs c. The restaurant is tiny and unless you book you are condemned to eat on a sofa from a coffee table d. the menu is very limited and some items run out e. If you require additional milk, pillows or towels you have to carry them in a pile to your room! F. The heating is on for a limited period and a promised heater in the wardrobe was not there. Staff are embarassed by the sheer range of exampes of poor service and do their best to respond. The room had 4 huge dirty marks on the carpet but was otherwise acceptable. The pool is a good size but changing rooms were dirty. Breakfadt is very expensive at 1795 per night… I ended up getting my own from a local M and S. I would definitely not stay again and sadly could not recommend. I dont imagine the chain are bothered. It certainly doesn’t feel like it.

Relaxing family stay What a gorgeous hotel! We stayed for one night in a family room and honestly couldn’t fault a thing. The room was a decent size, comfortable beds, beautiful hotel, lovely grounds and a great spa. Pool was a warm temperature, in a beautiful big room with timber ceilings. The facilities were all accessible there, which allowed my husband and I to take turns using steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, etc. under 16s are only allowed in the pool, but that’s where they wanted to be anyway! We didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment on that, but did go to an Indian restaurant that was 9 minutes drive. That was called saffron desi. This was slightly on the pricier side, but still reasonable and the best curry that we’ve had. They did kids meals which included main, ice cream and fruit shoot for £8.95.

Excellent spa experience We went on a spa offer for access to the gym, pool, steam/ sauna. Plus 1 treatment each. + afternoon tea for 2 The facilities were great, if a little dated. The staff were really friendly and helpful and we both got massages and they were excellent. The food was tasty and definitely felt good value for money Definitely worth a go. Didn’t stay at the hotel
