Relaxing Break ☺️ Much needed relexing two day break☺️ The location is excellent,we stayed in the Superior Double Room with Sea View, the view was lovely, gazing over on the green lawn and stunning sea views, hearing the sea waves and surprisingly not much traffic noise. The staff were very friendly and polite, the room was very clean, spacious and warm, the bed was very comfortable We had the all you could eat buffet breakfast for the 2 night stay was very tasty, hot, freshly cooked ranging from a cooked English breakfast to options of cereal, croissants, toast yogurt, teas, coffee, fruit juices etc... we filled our boots up and wasn't hungry till Dinner time. Particularly enjoyed not driving for the 2 days, walked from one end of the beach and looped around back to Exmouth Marina and then back to the hotel ( about 9 miles in all) We had a relaxing stay and will be back!! Thank you for all the team in The Imperial Exmouth for making it a great couple of days ☺️ The Hotel inside and outside is a bit dated and could do with a lick of paint, but that doesn't detract from the stay. Has a very charming feel to it. We had to pay £6 night for parking (£12 in total) would have been nice if the parking was free.

Excellent, Just "Don't Judge a Book by it's Cover" You can't tell a book by its cover! We booked the hotel because it was convenient for the Sturt Line bird watching Cruise which leaves from the Marina just down the road. One's first impression is that the Imperial appears tired. However we were very pleased with everything that followed. - The staff were friendly and helpful - The room was roomy, the bed comfortable, shower worked well, tea tray well supplied, Wi-Fi and TV were both in good working order. - As we were on half board we had dinner both nights and the food was excellent, the home made onion soup and the Lamb Shanks were particularly memorable. - Breakfast for lovers of seed and nut rich muesli was a delight. This was the best breakfast cereal buffet we have ever experienced. The perfectly cooked whole mushrooms and tomatoes were a distinct step up from the normal breakfast fare. We understand that a refurb is planned and we hope the overall impression will then match the excellent quality of the package on offer.

Disappointing Experience Arrived and reception was busy with 3 gents who were obviously having issues. The team member was explaining abut the hotel recently going through a take-over which was causing issues. Finally, we got to check in. The room we booked was a Superior Double With Sea View so when the gent advised that we had a Double with Sea View, we queried this. Ten further minutes and we were allocated what we believe was the room we booked (but how would you know?). Lovely sea view and a sizeable room, not sure why there were two wardrobes? The bed was another issue as although large enough and comfortable, the housekeeping had obviously run out of King Size Duvet Covers as we had a standard double cover which literally covered the top of the bed and each side of the duvet had been folded over to make it fit inside! Sleep was therefore an issue as I kept waking with no duvet as I had rolled to the side. The bathroom had other issues as it was very cramped. In the morning when we showered, we quickly realised that hair washing was out of the question and I can honestly say, I have never had a shower with such a dribble of a flow. It really was awful and even rinsing the shower gel off took a long time. Also the WC was crammed between the shower and a wall and was actually quite difficult to use. Finally breakfast. The cooked buffet plates were what I can only describe as "side plates". Very small and barely big enough for 4 items. I can only imagine it is some tactic to cut down on food consumption. The continental offering cereals and yoghurts, no cheese or meats. The hot drinks provided a basket of tea bags which no doubt, some people grabbed without the use of the tongs provided. Not very hygienic! However, we did request poached eggs which were provided freshly cooked and the waiting staff were very attentive and should be commended. All in all, a disappointing stay.

IMPERIAL HOTEL EXMOUTH. This hotel is over 100 years old, nicely situated on the sea front. It is however in need of a make over and upgrade. I paid £290 a night for a Christmas 3-night package, totaling £907. The ground floor entrance, dining room and lounge has been upgraded, but the rooms are poor. I paid for a superior room with sea view and it was no better than a room at Travelodge. We were on the second floor with too many stairs. The room door had a basic Yale lock which didn't close due to a faulty self-closing unit and the door would not meet current fire safety standards due to material used. The meals were of a good standard and the entertainment excellent. Cannot fault hotel staff. The final straw was having to pay £6 a day parking, despite being a resident paying over £900 for 3 nights. All in all a nice break but would not go there again.

Unsafe storage of personal details We booked a room for our inlaws over Christmas. We left our card as a deposit for any possible extra expenses, having paid in advance for the room. 4 days after checkout we noticed we had just been charged over 6times the cost of the room. After investigation by staff they have said our card was incorrectly added to another customers details, so we have paid for their trip! Apparently this was due to human error. We are currently awaiting a refund, feeling very concerned and frustrated. Definitely keep a close eye on your bank statements if you ever stay at this property.
