But Nice stay , room a bit cold and decor a bit dated The location of this hotel is fantastic , in the centre of Chester . The decor of the room decor was a bit dated , and it was a bit cold . The two usb points didn’t work and one of the bathroom lights just flickered all the time . I was only there for one night.

Poor quality The room I was allocated was a double room when I arrived in the room. I was disgusted to see the state of the windows find hair in the bath as well as just the general decoration of the room. We also had issues with poor Service in the bar we went to order a coffee no coffee only instant I asked for a fizzy water and was offered soda water after explaining what I wanted. I was offered a glass of fizzy water out of a bottle that was already opened. We checked what time the bar closed and we were told 1030 so after attending a function we returned to the hotel only to find that we’ve been given yet further miscommunication and the borrowed already closed at 10 I had emailed on numerous occasions regarding early check-in. We arrived at lunchtime and paid for the rooms in advance whilst to come back at 1:45 which we did only to find my room still wasn’t ready even though other people came in after me. The whole experience wasn’t very nice, and I certainly won’t be coming back here again

Staying at McDonalds would be better! I thought this hotel would be an excellent choice, it's price and location would suggest so. The lobby and check i were OK, pleasant enough. The room though was like going back in time. Decor was so outdated and tired and in poor condition. There was a stain on the carpet in the middle of the floor that seemed to have been there for ages. The windows were rotten and dirty. But the worst thing was the electrical connection on the heated towel rail in the bathroom. This had a repair attempt with insulation tape but had failed and was just about hanging on.

Avoid! So, for the price I paid for 1 night for 2 people I wasn’t expecting 5 * and the first impression was nice, a lovely Christmas tree and we were able to leave our bags as it was before the check in time. The location to the city centre and Christmas market was also perfect. But when we returned and were given access to our room, we realised that the accommodation was far from perfect. The room was a decent size 2 twin beds an adequate bathroom and warmly heated. However, the toilet did not flush despite numerous attempts and before setting back out I made the receptionist aware of the problem, she advised me to try the flush again later and if it was still faulty there would by that time be a male member of staff available and if he was unable to rectify the fault we would be moved to another room. That sentence I felt was disrespectful implying that a male could do better than a woman! When we returned the flush was still inoperable so I went back to the reception with my problem. I saw another person - there was no male member of staff and was informed this time that there were no other rooms available. I checked the website and that did confirm no availability, so I have to accept that this was correct. Therefore, I asked why the first receptionist said that we could move rooms? It’s very unlikely that there was a last minute booking. There was no reply. I asked if the lounge bar area was open for food or drinks, the reply was an abrupt no it’s closed. The attitude of both women was curt and rude, there was no apology no empathy, and certainly their attitude was not suitable for customer service interaction. Some other problems were that the light on one of the wall lights was not working, there were empty coffee sachets in the refreshment box and no milk. I realise that I could have asked for these provisions, however I felt that this would be pointless and I would receive the same attitude. The room was in urgent need of refurbishment and I did email the hotel requesting a reimbursement as this impacted our enjoyment of the short city break but although apologetic and a promise of speaking to the staff there was nothing else that they could do.

Major refurbishment needed Major refurbishment needed. Rooms are dated, not properly cleaned. So many issues. Air con not working, no opening windows, shower unit hanging off the wall, towel heater not working, large crack and brown patching on the ceiling appears from previous leak, dust and cob webs behind tv. The only thing in the hotels favour is the location. We’ve stayed here now for the last 3 years and each year it’s deteriorating rapidly. This will be our last year staying here. Investment needed and also refresher training for cleaning staff as rooms need to be cleaned not just bed changed and soap topped up.
