Groupon's Guide To Hampshire

Naturally rich in waterways, wildlife, and rugged terrain, Hampshire offers historic attractions and a mix of outdoors activities such as horse riding, river rafting, and coarse fishing.

Travellers may head to Jane Austen's House Museum revealing memorabilia and artefacts that once belonged to the novelist, while a historical outing can commence with Winchester Cathedral, where her tomb lies. Straying off the beaten track, consider dipping into the ArtSway Gallery, where a rotating collection of local and international artworks are displayed in a special New Forest space. A taste of the high-life can be enjoyed at the Southampton Hall of Aviation where a vast collection of vintage aircrafts can be explored, along with the considerable sky-gliding heritage of the Hampshire coast.

Probably the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced. Surprised as I’ve always rely on groupons choices of spa weekends. Hotel room was ok but looked out to waste land. Evening meal was like something out of faulty towers. 3 hrs to get through a 3 course meal. Food was bland and tasted like it had come straight out the microwave. Breakfast the following morning had no tables and no food and the fresh juice had run out. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I’ve sent them a review direct but heard nothing to date. Rather let down as it was a Xmas present I wasn’t expecting the Ritz but didn’t expect such poor standards. Didn’t even bother with the swimming pool as everything else was so out of date and dirty we thought better of it. Shame as I’ve always had great weekends away using groupon. All the best Nick

90th birthday celebration Nicole organised the most wonderful 90th celebration lunch for my Gran. She was so attentive to all our needs and added in decor that made the space personal and celebratory. Contact was timely and efficient and made the whole event so easy to plan within my busy life! The food was lovely and catered to all of our needs. My gran was over the moon with her day so thank you!

Very Disappointing Stay – Not the 4★ Experience Advertised Please read the review below - this information was sent to the hotel directly to then receive a dismissive and rather disappointing response from the general manager, Georges. He clearly did not wish to hear or acknowledge any of the comments with understanding and empathy, instead responding in a questionning and defensive way - implying that I was making things up. This is probably way worse than the experience at the hotel itself. My partner and I stayed overnight in a suite at the Meon Valley Hotel on Saturday 7th February, and unfortunately our experience fell far short of what is advertised on the website. For a 4-star hotel that promises “exceptional luxury and impeccable service,” the reality was extremely disappointing. On arrival, our room was ready slightly early, which was a positive start. However, we were surprised to learn there was an additional fee to use the spa — something that is not made clear at the time of booking unless you search carefully through the website. The suite itself did not reflect the description or images online. The room only had sparkling water (no still water), a coffee machine without any coffee pods and a bed with just two small pillows. There was nothing about the room that felt like “exceptional luxury” or “plush bedding.” The in-room materials were branded as Elite Venue, which felt ironic given how far the experience was from anything “elite.” When we went for lunch, we were met by an unfriendly and unprofessional staff member who seemed more interested in her phone than serving guests. The menu was extremely limited — nowhere near being “spoilt for choice” as advertised — and the main restaurant appeared to be closed. We chose to eat elsewhere. The spa facilities were equally disappointing. The sauna had no lighting, the steam room was not working, and the jacuzzi was very small and full of foam. This was far from the “excellent facilities” and “amazing heated indoor pool and jacuzzi” described online. Later in the evening, we visited the bar at around 8:30pm, only to be told at 9:30pm that it would be closing shortly. On a Saturday night, this seemed unusually early. When we checked with reception, we were told the bar closes at 11:00pm, but that it may close earlier “if they see fit.” We were also told breakfast would finish at 9:00am, despite the in-room information stating 10:00am on weekends. Reception advised that breakfast service may stop early if they feel no one else will attend. This left us with little confidence that breakfast would still be available at 9:30/9:45am, so we didn’t risk going. Overall, the experience felt misleading compared to the photos and descriptions used to promote the hotel. The facilities, service levels, and overall standards did not reflect a 4-star establishment. Sadly, this stay did not meet even basic expectations, let alone the luxury experience advertised. We would not return and cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Good Mid week stay. Not busy. Went to the bar for food, which was good. Again, it is very quiet. The only downside was that it was cold. The suite was clean and tidy, as was the bathroom. The coffee machine didn't work, but there was instant coffee. It certainly could do we a whole makeover as it looks 'tired'
