Excellent staff and food, good value room My wife and I stayed for two nights in February 2026 for our anniversary. Booked the 3-course dinner, bed and breakfast option, with complementary use of the spa facilities. First time visitors. We were pleased from the outset. A large (free) carpark, and the check-in receptionist was extremely friendly and informative about the hotel and the facilities. We spent a lovely couple of hours in the spa – an adequate pool, jacuzzi style hot tub, and a small sauna and steam rooms - both were good and hot, with at most one other guest in at the same time. We timed it badly and there were a few kids with parents playing in the pool quite loudly (their timing is restricted) for a bit which wasn’t great for relaxing, but otherwise nice to just chill and the hot tub was a really nice touch. The room (one of the Privilege ones, that I think has some small additions compared to other room types such as robe/ slippers and a better coffee/ soft minibar offering?) although compact was clean and well presented, and the bathroom had a bath which not all comparable venues offer. Storage space was on the low side, but was fine for what we needed. Breakfast and dinner were both served in the brasserie, which was nicely furnished with lovely views of the grounds. Staff were lovely for all meals, with serving staff extremely helpful with advice on the menu and answering our questions/ making suggestions. Breakfast was a decent offer of juices, teas/coffees, cereals, meats/ cheeses, a hot buffet offer, and fruits with yoghurt. All aspects were very tasty and genuinely one of the best we’ve had from this level of hotel. The 3-course dinner offer had plenty of choice (other venues can be very limiting) with each course really good in terms of portion size, quality and presentation. The squid as a starter was a cheeky hit! Again, one of the best we’ve had for hotel deals that add dinner in. While all staff were lovely and genuinely had a positive impact on our stay, Phil on night duty was especially friendly. Checkout was quick, and with a lovely goodbye from the receptionist and DG. Overall the venue itself, the professional and warm staff team, and the high quality of the food made this a really good anniversary and one we will fondly remember. Would highly recommend, and we will definitely stay again.

Don't bother, especially if you're disabled. Good points. Location handy for me. Atmosphere in bar good. Bad points. Room basically the same as a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge. Bed lumpy and uncomfortable. Pillows lumpy and uncomfortable. Duvet not big enough for bed. Flood lights from car park came through curtains all night. Addressing things with staff was impossible. On complaining, even with emails, everything was ignored. They charge extra for an accessible room. So you pay extra, even though you can't use their other facilities. Very much over priced for what you get. Disgusted!

Good Dog-Friendly hotel Great location for our visit as able to explore Chester and Liverpool during our stay. Staff really helpful and friendly. Dog-friendly hotel. Great at breakfast for Gluten-free as brought me out my GF toast and bacon as I stated I didn't trust the cross-contamination with the buffet. Rooms are basic as standard, but enough space. Good value for money when we booked as breakfast was included, worth it for the coffee and juice. Standard of cleanliness was good throughout. Used the leisure facilities and enjoyed the pool, sauna and jacuzzi (not a steam room fan). Changing rooms were clean, showers were poor but luckily the ones in the room were powerful so able to wash hair there after swimming. Bonus of a pool table in the front of the hotel.

Second Visit After staying here last year we decided to book again. After a almost a two hour drive we had to queue for 30 minutes at reception having already checked in the previous night, no apology given for delay, they said they had been busy the Saturday night being Valentines. Going to the room the corridors had not been vacuumed and trays, bags etc outside the rooms. In the room was ok except for being a chocolate stain on the phone which had not been cleaned also finger nails found in bed. Breakfast next day bit disappointing as only a few items in each tray no eggs, they were only bringing one or two items at a time. We went out to explore Chester and arrived back at approx 16.00 and our room had not been cleaned, we had to go searching for toilet rolls, coffee etc and room was not cleaned nor the bin emptied. On departing on the Tuesday there was still a metal heart on the floor in the corridor from Saturday. We will not be returning
