Lovely hotel & spa What a lovely hotel, the staff are fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you, to arranging our room extra early as we was going to the coral gold cup at Newbury racecourse which was an early start, the food was absolutely one of the nicest meals I’ve ever had and the prices were very reasonable. The rooms are very spacious and so clean a lovely big walk in shower and all amenities you need, a very comfortable bed and pillows and a nice big tv plus tea and coffee. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Newbury or going to Newbury races which is 10minutes up the road. I didn’t get pictures apart from the food as I was in a rush to get to the races but they are absolutely lovely. Also they have a gym & swimming pool for guests to use which was also fantastic

Wouldn't book again check before you go Stayed here for a Groupon deal which included use of spa facilities. My husband and I were looking forward to using the jacuzzi but on checking in were told it was out of order. Had we have known this prior to checking in we would of transferred the booking to another time when the jacuzzi was working. Rooms were dated and need of maintenance. Broken door in bathroom dirty carpets. Food was ok and the bar area was cosy .won't be booking again after contacting the hotel and getting ignored _

Practical place, with helpful staff... This was chosen for the location and the availability of an early breakfast. Staff were very helpful with the booking process, and explained how to find the hotel within the complex layout of the service area and junction. There was a friendly welcome, and all staff were helpful and pleasant throughout. The open-plan layout of reception, bar and restaurant is convenient, and good for watching the comings and goings. The convenience of the hotel means it's popular for block bookings, which makes for an interesting atmosphere. The room was spacious, everything was well-maintained; whilst there were a few décor blemishes in the bathroom all fittings were clean and worked well. The room was not over-heated as in many other establishments, which enabled a good night's sleep. Only the long corridor outside was a little forbidding, though in no way poorly-maintained. Breakfast was buffet-style, and was fine despite the absence of mushrooms. Despite the spaciousness of the dining room, the hot drinks machine was placed in a bottle-neck at the exit of the buffet area and near the door to the kitchen. This is not a place anyone would go for luxury, but aims at practicality. If in a remote location I would say the price-tag would be high, but as it is so handy and works so efficiently, I would rate it as a fair price.

Dirty corridors. We have stayed here since the Stakis days, through the Hilton area. So we know the hotel well. Now, under new ownership. The rooms are still excellent, although they are very tired and in dire need of redecorating. The bathrooms are big, and now have Dove Soaps. Stayed for 5 nights at first . I was given room 110. Arrived after 6 pm. No hot water, but to be honest, I wasn't bothered. Next morning still no hot water. There were at least 40 Blue British Gas vans in the car park. So I thought, maybe the hot water had all been used up. But did tell reception, the young man said there had been a problem with the boiler and that it was now fixed. Returned that night, still,no hot water. So on Saturday morning saw Nicola at reception. She moved us ( my partner was joining me that night) to 150. Yeah, instant hot water . She also gave us a free breakfast. Nice big room. The breakfast was made to order as the hotel was very quiet. It was okay, but still no mushrooms. On Sunday all our family congregated in the lounge. Service was dismal. There was an older gent cleaning the beerlines, no uniform as such. Said the Starbucks franchise was shut. He certainly didn't want to be there. A young girl did eventually turn up. The Latte was very disappointing, she also informed us that whipped cream was extra on the kids Hot Chocolates. The lounge is well furnished and comfortable. On our next stay we had room 163. A bit smaller, and noisy as closer to the A4 bypass. But it did the job All the beds are comfortable, with extra pillows available. Enough towels, and our rooms were always serviced. Heating takes a bit of getting used to, tricky to get just the right temperature. TV just has Freeview. Free WiFi in the hotel. Hot drinks station innthe room, but no biscuits, The big let down was the corridors. Outside 150 was a dirty plate and J2O bottle, for over 36 hours. I told Nicola , " Oh, I suppose I had better move it." She never did. That night it was still there. I plonked it on the reception desk. Same when in 163,mpthe corridors littered for hours either empty bottles. Seriously Orida keep an eye on the corridors. We will return as we always do.

Freezing. Would never return. No heating, awful nights sleep due to this alone. Liked · Breakfast always good. Although the juice from the machine is awful diluted with water. Staff on duty friendly and helpful. Disliked · No heating on first floor and bedroom absolutely freezing. Staff doing their best and very friendly and polite but it’s not good enough to have freezing cold bedrooms. Asked for electric heater and extra blanket which was provided promptly but room so cold it took hours to warm up despite sleeping in all my clothes. No management on site on Saturday morning to discuss further - not ideal.
