Room let down the hotel We use this hotel a lot when visiting family, this is the first time we have visited since it was taken over. The first thing we noted was the deep hole where the roundabout was, this is going to be a fountain. The lounge bar is more neon lit than it was and we notice there were doing a new hot tub in the spa. We were given room 126, this is the worse room we’ve had in all the time we have visited. The bathroom fan was noisy, the shaving mirror loose, so it never stayed where you wanted it. The rail under the towel holder over the bath came off at one end, so couldn’t be used. The clothes line, just dangled in the bath, the shower curtain clung to you when showering and the towels were thin and fraying. The bed was too soft, so your feet were higher than your head. The room was cold, with a draft coming through the window frame, so we closed the curtain to warm the room up. This room badly needs up grading or to be actually maintained. It was nice to see they kept the staff on, as we saw some familiar faces, from reception to the room cleaning staff. Breakfast was the same, just limited pastries on the Friday morning, compared to Saturday. Time for breakfast at the weekend is 8 - 9.30, which is the shortest time I’ve known in a hotel, so it can make breakfast very busy having a short window. I would have hoped that the rooms upgrade would come before the new fountain out front. Hot tub I can understand. It’s usual though, lovely public areas, but rooms are the last thing to be done and let the hotel experience down.

Dissapointing Haven't been for a few months but visited on Saturday and have to say things are not so good. An illuminated sign above the bar proclaiming the words Café Ash 'N Bar, but the only word that springs to mind is "Tacky". A place like The Parkway doesn't need this type of thing. Most if not all of the drinks on tap have changed but not a lager or cider that I like. For a long time there were at least 5 vacant tables that had not been cleared and bits of food/rubbish on the floor also our table needed a good wipe. All in all a definite down turn in class since change of ownership.

Not a happy bunch I visit regularly with friends for morning coffee. There has always been one particular member of staff who doesn’t appear to enjoy her job, we’ve chuckled amongst ourselves about this…however, this attitude seems to have transferred to all the staff in the cafe bar. From till service to receiving our drinks. What a miserable bunch! Our table was dirty from previous customers and the waiter was about to put our drinks on the table. I politely asked if he could clean it first and remove empty biscuit wrappers and dirty napkins, he sighed and then got cleaning items! Our drinks were then plonked down on the table. He wasn’t very happy. The cappuccino’s were luke warm and tasteless. What has happened? Is it the new owners of the hotel?

Spa day sh*t show! Initially attended an afternoon tea here for my birthday and a treat 2 days before having my baby. We were left for 1.5 hours waiting for our food before having to chase it. Then there were workmen drilling in the room in which we were eating. We were given a lunch and spa package as an apology for the inconvenience. We booked the package and at the time I was 8 weeks post baby and really looking forward to the relaxation, to our horror, the spa area was a working building site where they had workmen in replacing the jacuzzi. Constant workmen in and out, dirty floors from their boots and external doors open and closing, while we’re trying to relax near the pool in our swimwear. Not to mention the sheer level of noise from the banging and drilling, leaving us needing to shout over each other to have a conversation. The overall experience was not relaxing in any way that we hoped it would be, leading us to leave early. We have since contacted the hotel to complain, it has been a week since the initial email and we are still awaiting a response. Shocking customer service and clearly no regard for customer comfort. Would rather allow spa days to go ahead in a working building site, than shut the spa for a few days to ensure these things don’t happen.
