Pleasantly surprised! After reading some reviews I was very sceptical about this hotel. My husband booked it as a treat as I have worked all over the Xmas period. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with everything. I have OCD and really struggle with cleanliness. The room exceeded my expectations, no smell..no dust! So well done to the house keeping team. Staff were very friendly at reception and at breakfast. We did not eat our evening meal at the hotel as the menu did not meet our dietary needs. A lot of the food was deep fried. The breakfast was very good. However the coffee was just luke warm Would we stay again? 100% yes!

Used to be a lot better We go to the parkway for food intimitaly we sit in the lounge. The last 4 times have been bad. The first time last year I had a chicken bone stuck in my throat that was in the Chicken curry, the curry sauce is runny like gravey and the chicken is so small no nice chunks that you find elsewhere. This January we have been twice trying the chicken burger and beef burger on 2 occasions. Both were tasteless and the burgers were hard to eat We won't be going back in a hurry.

Pleasant Rooms with Great Service! Just a one night here. Service exceptional - especially at breakfast. Room average however it suited us for the night. Excellent food at breakfast and I recommend you book this! The swimming pool was fantastic. All of it is a bit 1980's but hey, its well priced and well presented. A good job.I recommend this one :)

Had better We went as a family for Christmas day lunch. The starter and also the soup were very nice but the main course was disappointing. It could have had more turkey on the plate and so little gravy that we had to ask for more. I must say that this was delivered to us straight away by a very nice waitress. The vegetables, which were cauliflower, carrots and sprouts were brought to us in a divided serving dish but they were all heaped together in a mound. The carrots had not been prepared very well and could have done with the tops being cut off to make them look more attractive and appetizing. The sherry trifle was good and so was the sticky toffee pudding. After eating we went into the lounge for coffee. We waited quite a while after we ordered and had to remind the staff. The coffee came in cups without saucers. I don't know if the waiter was hoping that we wouldn't notice because he said nothing about it until we asked. He explained that they had 'run out of plates'. He also seemed surprised when we asked for sugar and spoons! In summary I would say that I've had better but all the staff were lovely and very obliging

Christmas?. Afternoon Tea I took my mum for afternoon tea on 23rd December, so close to Christmas we were expecting at least some festive atmosphere. Unfortunately, there was none. Apart from one Christmas tree in the lobby and another in the dining room – both decorated with only white lights – there were no other Christmas decorations. It felt like any ordinary day. After waiting, we were eventually seated at a table right next to the entrance of the bar and kitchen, which really wasn’t appropriate. The constant noise of staff going in and out meant we could barely hear each other speak. Service was poor. The female servers, who appeared to be team leads or managers, looked particularly messy and unprofessional. They mostly stood watching while one male server – who was clearly new – struggled to cope with everything on his own. He looked completely overwhelmed, and although I felt sorry for him, this is not something guests should have to experience. Overall, the staff looked scruffy and miserable – surely a dress code or uniform should be standard in a venue like this. Our three-tier afternoon tea eventually arrived. The food was presented on a silver afternoon tea stand that was both rusty and wonky. One of the feet was uneven, and the waiter folded up a piece of card and placed it underneath to stop it wobbling, which was quite off-putting. The food itself was arranged as follows: four half sandwiches each on the bottom tier, a scone and Welsh cake on the middle tier, and an assortment of cakes on the top. While the food tasted good, the balance was wrong – far too many overly sweet cakes and not nearly enough sandwiches. The coffee was served in a pot with the lid not properly secured. When I poured it, it spilled over the table and onto me. Thankfully, it was only lukewarm black coffee; otherwise this could have been dangerous. Before leaving, we decided to have a drink. I went to the bar, which caused confusion, and I was abruptly told to return to my table and wait for table service. We then waited some time while others were served at the bar. Eventually, our order was taken – I ordered a beer and my mum ordered a gin and tonic. When the drinks arrived, my mum was handed a tumbler containing just gin – no tonic, no ice, no lemon. I was genuinely shocked and had to correct the mistake immediately. The bill came to £68, which I personally felt was very overpriced for the food and service we received. We left feeling disappointed and, if anything, less Christmassy than when we arrived.
