Never again Went for Mother's Day. Huge disappointment. £25.00 each for 5 adults and a child ( 12.50). Meat dry , vegetables overcooked. The atmosphere was like a wake held in a morgue. It could be so much better. The hotels has a great ballroom, a very fair bar and a wonderful history but was let down by lacklustre staff and truly terrible main courses.

Good value We have stayed at the prince of wales Southport several times. It’s really inexpensive. We have always found the staff very helpful and friendly. It’s a beautiful building in a lovely town. The rooms we stayed in had been refurbished with good quality bathroom fixtures and were comfortable and very clean. The building is old and this does show in the windows and creaky floors. We like the welcoming open fire in the lounge / reception area. Its good value price wise. We usually go for a Sunday night out in Southport and stay there as it’s even cheaper. E

Ok stay but sadly rundown Grand looking hotel could be so much better, checking was fast and friendly girl in reception . Lovely fire in reception, rooms on floor 1 very dated . Bath couldn’t with a scrub and the rooms need to be cleaned more thoroughly. Had to ask for adult sized towels and no shower gel after asking to fill twice . Restaurant apologies was awful , no vegetarians catered for and if you want fresh food go somewhere else as all food was processed and beige , tasteless. If you are staying on a Sunday be aware that bar closes early, no log fire and no background music on. Beautiful decor in downstairs room as investment has been done on basement floor , grand rooms for entertainment and parties. This hotel could have massive potential, it’s a shame to see that parts of it are so dated and stuck in the 70’s .
