Newcastle upon Tyne: Double Room for Two with Breakfast, Bottle of prosecco, and Late Check-Out at Rooms Inn

Budget at its best. The staff at Rooms Inn are fabulous. We were allocated room 119 on the first floor of the older part of the building. A small room. Although I suspect all rooms are a similar size, with a nice sized bathroom. The room was clean to a high standard. Bed was comfortable. Everything, the kettle, sockets, lights, TV, water, shower...all in fully working order. We arrived quite late on Saturday 15th. Richard on reception was welcoming and helpful. Richard remained helpful throughout our 2 night stay. The day staff, Leanne was equally as welcoming and helpful. The breakfast grab bags are a bonus. Would be good to be offered a bottle of water as a substitute to a carton of pure juice. In all a very pleasant stay and just 15 minutes maximum walk to the centre of Newcastle.

Budget friendly b & b service Rooms Inn offers a no frills, budget friendly B & B service. I booked a twin room with en suite facility which was clean and tidy, comfortable twin beds, bathroom with shower. Hair dryer, iron & ironing board in room, free wi-fi connection. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is a 'grab and go', bag, with fruit, yoghurt, juice , cereal bar and croissant. This was fine for our stay, coffee and tea making facilities in room (though no biscuits!). Lots of cafe options in and around the city if you need a more traditional breakfast offering. Car parking available and near to railway station. (approx 10 mins walk). If you are looking for something more basic rather than high end then Rooms Inn is well worth a try.

Really poor sleep Stayed here for one night to catch early flight from Newcastle Airport. Bed was so small and uncomfortable that we both managed less than an hours sleep. Room clean enough and decent size but if you can't sleep then only option is a 1 star review.

Great Hotel Great hotel cheap and affordable and breakfast each day close to Town Centre clean and tidy did the job for us on a budget. Rooms were a good size. Would defiantly go back when we go to see family again. Car park was secure and staff very friendly

Close enough to the City to party, far enough away to avoid the noise The Rooms Inn is a hotel located about a 15 minute walk from the train station or a half an hour walk from Haymarket bus station. It sits on a main road just up from Newcastle College in an area just outside of the main part of the City. From the hotel to the centre on foot is effectively one long road so it is easier to get into town and back without needing to drive or get public transport. We needed somewhere to stay for a comic con we were attending and as it was a Saturday night, most of the hotels in the City centre and surrounding areas (the Quayside, Gateshead and Jesmond) were all averaging about £120 a night which I could not justify paying. Having done a bit of research I found this hotel and although I had never heard of them before, I did know the area so I thought it would be a good place to stay and at £109 per night, it was the cheaper option. It also has the benefit of being a 10 minute walk from the arena so was ideal for us because that is where we were going. You enter reception through some doors off to the right of the car park (opposite the outdoor smoking area) and then make a right into a small reception area where there are some chairs around a table and a reception desk. We were checked in by a very friendly and polite member of staff (whose name I did not catch) and after the formality of writing our address and signing our booking, we were given our keys and told how to find our room. We were on the second floor which was located towards the back of the hotel and up some stairs passed some seating in the corridor. There were menus in the room and on the tables for food and drink which I assume are available from reception as I did not see a bar anywhere. We had booked a superior double room and the first thing I noticed was how big it was when I opened the door as it felt more like a suite than a room. The room smelled clean and was well presented. The bathroom was off to the left and had a large shower, hair/hand/face wash and enough towels for a couple of days. The shower was powerful and easy to navigate and the room is large enough for you to get changed without feel claustrophobic. In the room was a wardrobe with an iron and ironing board, hangers and a hair dryer. There was a flat screen TV with free view on the wall to the right with a chair and writing space. There were tea and coffee making facilities as well as a large double bed, a sofa which could become a bed and two large mirrors. The room was clean and tidy but I did notice a tear in the wallpaper above the sofa which looked like it had been repaired with chewing gum. Overall, I was very impressed with what we got for what we paid and will stay there again next time we are in Newcastle. After we had checked in and got refreshed, we headed out to the town for food and drinks. Access to the hotel after a certain time is by ringing the intercom and then a member of staff let's you in, asks you your room number and name before checking you against their list. We went out quite a few times for a vape so I felt sorry for the poor chap on reception who had to let us in. We slept OK but whoever was above us sounded like they were herding elephants at several points during the night which did lead to disjointed sleep but it is what it is and noise just carries sometimes in old buildings. The following morning we left our keys at reception and grabbed our 'breakfast to go' bag which has either a croissant or pan au chocolate, a yoghurt and spoon, a piece of fruit, an Alpen bar and some juice. It was ideal for us who literally had to grab and go to get to our event. For its' location only, this hotel is ideal. Located close enough to the action to be able to get to The Gate in twenty minutes but far enough away to avoid the City centre noise, you can get back on foot or jump in an Uber that will not cost a fortune. The value of room for what we paid was good and the customer service we received was also good. From the welcome email after booking to the warm reception we got when we checked in, it helped to add to the positive experience we had. So should you stay there? If you are visiting Newcastle for a night out and event, especially on the weekend when hotel prices get hiked up due to dynamic pricing, then you cannot go wrong staying at this hotel. It offers, I think, good value for money and the breakfast bag is another convenient bonus of staying there. Overall, we had a really positive experience and having never heard of the hotel previously to having stayed there now, we will definitely be returning.
