Absolutely Faultless Such a lovely Welcoming Atmosphere Unfortunately we needed to rush to Cornwall unexpectedly due to my mothers bestfriend loosing her husband. I contacted the hotel to find out about avalability and spoke to a lovely gentleman on reception who was extremely helpful i ended up booking two rooms . We were contacted to wish us a safe journey, and told the hotel had steps due to my mother recently recovering from a broken back and told our rooms had been upgraded what a lovely surprise . The hotel is in a prime location overlooking a beautiful beach the views are breathtaking . The hotel was clean and tidy and our bedrooms were extremely spacious each staff member were professional , helpful and made you feel extremely welcome . The breakfast menu was the best ive ever seen within the hospitality industry and the Eggs Benedict were beautifully cooked and presented i was torn on about 4 items i really liked the look of .We hope to return in the future as we really enjoyed our stay we wish you all the very best for the upcoming season and the upcoming refurbishment to a spa hotel in the future . With love Hannah room 310 & Sally Room 312 xxx

Groupon's Guide To Cornwall

From Bude to Land's End, Cornwall encompasses everything from chocolate-box villages to vast Atlantic coastlines and vibrant surfing hubs. As residents are rarely more than a half-hour drive from the sea, there's no surprise it plays a huge part to Cornish life, with busy harbours and Michelin star awarded seafood restaurants allowing fish to go from boat to plate in 24 hours.

With clubs, bars, and extreme sports, Newquay has plenty to offer for a youthful crowd, while family-friendly Falmouth has more sheltered beaches and all-ages day outs such as the National Maritime Museum. Away from beach life, grown-up St Ives is an established arts centre, home to the Tate St Ives, Barbara Hepworth's garden and a wealth of independent galleries. Inland a little, the Eden Project's greenhouse biomes create spectacular tropical environs and an otherworldly, space-age feel. Visitors can also buy into the local legends on Bodmin Moor or hike along the rugged landscape to catch a glimpse of the fabled beast.

Beware Bought a stay off Groupon and whilst not the most expensive stay, it was dreadful. Was greeted at reception by three people who grunted check in wasn’t until 3.00pm. On return we were given a room, 308. WOW! The window was single pain glass, nothing like the pictures advertised and the radiator was constantly banging. I complained to both Groupon and the hotel which fell on deaf ears. They said no other rooms were available and the pictures were being updated by the photographer the following day. Hardly any sleep due to road noise and the radiator. Breakfast was in a budget. I’ve never been to a hotel where nothing is laid out including water and juice. You had to ask for everything. Food arrived hot and tasty enough. On departure I again complained including suggesting the radiator needed bleeding to which the reply was “oh right”. That’s it, no “thanks for that”, “how was it”, “safe trip” etc. would I stay again, never!!! If you don’t like your job then don’t do it and if you’re doing the job, do it right. Shocking!!!!!!!

Great hotel and fabulous mini break Just back from a lovely February break in St Ives, booked this hotel as within our budget an only wanted a 3-night stay. Booked by telephone, friendly and helpful receptionist. Overall we had a fabulous break, asked for a sea view and was certainly not disappointed! Overlooking beautiful sandy Porthminster Beach which was a 5 minute walk away (down a hill, accessible but quicker to use the steps if able). Room was large enough for us two plus border collie. Facilities in room good. Breakfast options were fantastic. Full, varied, menu which was well cooked and presented, served by friendly and helpful waitresses. Housekeeping staff approachable and helpful when asked. Review would have been excellent 5/5 but for a few niggles….. room (in February) was stiflingly hot even with radiator at lowest setting (air conditioning unit was therefore used). Bed was a small double (not great for tall husband!), and a few scruffy bits in shower-room which could be easily rectified. Hairdryer worked well but could be updated as very old. These things did not spoil our stay and we felt it was very good value for money. Looking forward to returning one day soon. Would recommend staying out of season as parking very limited.

Average stay, tired hotel but clean We arrived early at our accommodation and were not able to check-in. We were able to access there lounge area until check-in. We were greeted by the receptionist who was helpful about the area with local cafes. We checked into our room and were greeted with a tired looking room but clean. The hotel takes you back to the 70's with its decor in the main areas of the hotel. Our room was facing the water but the windows were not double glazed and you could hear the traffic on the main road. The noise wasn't too intrusive but at times slightly annoying and would be increased in the summer season. There was a lift that fitted two people in with bags for a very large hotel. Mosts guests utilised the stairs with a lot of internal doors which were not self closing. We were situated outside one of the closing doors and the banging could be heard during the night when people were coming and going. This woke me up several times. The majority of the clientele were 70 plus. We later asked staff about this phenomena who then explained the receive many bus tours from groups around the United Kingdom for five night stays. This explained why people were friendly with each other at breakfast. :) The hotel provided dinner which was included in some stays. The receptionist failed to tell us we were entitled to dinner with our stay through booking.com. This was slightly disappointing as we had pre-paid several months earlier. The receptionist failed to tell us our entitlements or explained the hotel amenities. As we were about to drift off to sleep after a long day of walking a loud noise could be heard from below and woke us with a startle. Our fellow traveller texted us immediately asking 'what was going on?' Upon further investigation there was a band with singing on the ground floor. There is no sound proofing and the noise travelled up the stairs through the internal doors straight into our room. Luckily, this only went on for an hour and half. I have a feeling this was for the tour groups but unsure. The breakfast was standard but nothing fancy. You attended the buffet style table so food was kept hot by a warmer. There was no personal touch but service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The hotel was a 10 minute walk into penzance and there was a slight hill to climb when returning. The beach was a few minutes down some steep stairs and across the railway tracks or under the tracks through a tunnel. Overall, the stay was average and nothing to write home about. I thought it was a bit expensive but we did book several months earlier on booking.com.

Not what it says its not a spa hotel Phone booked for room. £410 4 nights. On arrival very arrogant ignorant unwelcoming receptionist NIKKI. I checked if we had the bay window as we requested only to be told by NIKKI no. She could upgrade us. Asked if it was accessible for disabled, she just said 2nd floor. There are the stairs you walk up them. Considering I was stood there with walking aid & breathing heavy due to asthma, she upset me. She gave us rm 207 via lift. Not recommended, rm very tiny, small window with a view, only 1 person can sit in the window to observe the view. On arrival we advised NIKKI we had parked our car on the front, her response, you can't park there i am expecting coach full & they will take the side off your car, which was rubbish. She said parking round the back in a garage. We wasn't even allowed to unload our car. I asked to speak to the manager, she said am assistant manager can I help. Eventually SILVIU the manager came to our room. We told him of the receptionist bad attitude for an assistant manager. He told us SHE IS NOT assistant manager. Apologies for her & the tiny room. Gave us 1 drink each for 2 nights plus 15% refund. Breakfast wasn't great. Sausages brown on 1 side raw on the other, eggs you had to ask for. No fruit just tinned prunes & tinned grapefruit. 6 steps to climb to restaurant. We can confirm there was no pool no spa thats advertised, so false advertising. Definitely not recommended.
