Lovely stay I stayed here for 1 night after spending the day at Thorpe Park. Close to restaurants and shops Onsite parking charged at £10 Close to train station 6 min drive from Thorpe Park Riverside Location We had a room traffic side and we had the windows open all night and no noise disturbed us apart from a drunken couple who thought our room was their room Beds comfy the best sleep i have had in a while The room itself could do with updating but for the price it was great Reception staff were friendly Only confusion was being told i had to check in via an online check in form which i didn’t get but i managed to check at reception I would stay again

So guest unfriendly, you’re only worth 5 tissues in the bathroom! We booked the hotel with Accor, as a Mercure. With our membership level of loyalty we are entitled to a free upgrade and free welcome drinks. We tried to cancel the booking when the hotel changed hands as we had only booked it because it was an Accor. We were told by the purchasers of the hotel that our booking was non-cancellable, despite the contract being with Accor (not them). However, they refused to match the loyalty rewards we expected and were due. It seems the ‘contract’ only worked one way! We later discovered the price would have been much lower had we booked later and directly with the new owners. We received no communication from the new owners to say they had bought the hotel or to advise us of its new name. All communication was instigated by us. The standard and cleanliness of the room were not the equivalent of a Mercure - we were provided with 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel for 2 people! However, the final straw was discovering that the tissue box had been deliberately stocked with only 5 tissues! We went out to eat. On our return, the bar was closed but every table in the bar area had not been cleared of used glasses. The ground floor smelt of cooking food. I could not recommend this hotel and will never use this chain again.

Fine if you hate sleeping I usually stay at this hotel when working nearby as the location is excellent and the price is very reasonable. In the past I’ve had decent stays here, food is ok, it’s on the river so that’s great and rooms are fine for a night away for work, staff usually very nice. But! unfortunately my most recent visit (Room 20) was very poor. The room is absolutely not soundproof — the large glass windows must have been made by Bernard Matthews as they’re wafer thin. I could hear everything outside, and inside was just as bad. Doors were constantly being slammed by staff, and someone (presumably staff) stood outside my room for several minutes late at night making weird throat-clearing noises. It was impossible to get any sleep, and now I’ve got to get through a full workday completely exhausted. It’s a shame, because I’ve stayed here before without issue and really like the value and location. But if you’re put in Room 20, be warned — it offers zero sound protection. While I’m at it a shaft of light also shines in from the gap at the bottom of the door which doesn’t help matters so I lined pillows up to block that out too.

Awful stay, awful customer service My husband booked via a voucher for 16th-17th August . The experience fell far below expectations and was not in line with the package advertised. Firstly, the package clearly included a welcome drink and a two-course meal. Neither of these was provided as promised. Instead, we were told there was only a £20 per person spend limit, which was not what was advertised, and no welcome drink was ever offered. More concerningly, shortly after checking in, a member of staff knocked on our door claiming we had not paid for our stay and that an outstanding balance remained. This was extremely upsetting, as we had already provided proof of purchase. I was even asked to show bank details to prove payment. When I sought reassurance that the issue was resolved, I was simply told “I hope so,” which left us feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed, as though we were being treated like criminals. The room itself was also unacceptable. We were promised a queen-size bed, but instead we were given two single beds pushed together, which kept separating throughout the night. The bedding was dirty, the heater provided did not work, and overall the standard of the room fell well below what one would reasonably expect. This stay was meant to be an enjoyable experience, but instead it was deeply disappointing and stressful. Given the multiple failings — from unfulfilled package promises to the distressing treatment we received I have continued to contact the hotel for there response but they never reply. Awful stay, awful customer service.
