Lovely stay x The County often gets a poor review but I feel alot these are unfair. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms which was completed to an excellent standard. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful and the hotel is in an excellent location with free parking.

The Hotel

Located in the centre of Carlisle, directly opposite the railway station, The County Hotel Carlisle offers a convenient base for exploring the city and the surrounding Cumbria countryside. Awful dirty hotel, avoid!!! Be warned!!! Possibly the worst hotel we have stayed in. Arrived late, lots of drunks around, an angry woman shouting and swearing on her phone in reception. Staff just ignored her. The hotel is like an oven, the heat in the small room was unbearable, staff said that's just how this hotel is. Duvet had yellow stain on it, there was dirt everywhere, damage in various places and the carpet had stains on it. I complained the next day as we had an awful hot night and was just given an email. I have emailed the hotel and the group that owns it but no one has responded. I'd avoid this hotel at all costs...just awful.

Disaster If I could leave a zero for this dump I would.my company paid for 2nights including bed and breakfast with evening meal the later they failed to provide even though the day time receptionist contacted a manager to it would be provided. The evening receptionist was totally not interested at all. The hotel reminds me of a youth hostel from the 1970s it needs a total referb out out date decor poor room facilities and the bathroom was a total disgrace stained towels etc Avoid at all costs

Absolutely shockingly awful We checked into the hotel and went up the stairs and walked into a smelly room and the first thing we saw was a filthy sofa with holes in it and 2 old chairs with holes in them. My 5 year old daughter went to open a draw and the thing collapsed and almost cut her hand.

Rubbish Dirty room stained carpet black mold on wall. Bathroom falling apart. Reported it to staff not a single care giving just excuses no care for the customer. lack of hygiene in restaurant chef standing in restaurant picking her teeth avoid at all costs .
