Fabulous Mother's Day lunch Mother's Day lunch for a family of 6 and it was absolutely delicious. 3 course set menu with lots of choice and everyone loved every bite. The staff and service were really good too with a special mention to Josh who was charming, helpful and polite. Beautiful setting and a really lovely hotel - highly recommended.

The Hotel

Located just an hour's drive from the centre of London, The George Hotel can be easily reached by car or train. The hotel is famous for its medieval cellars, probably dating from 1450, preserved behind glass. Although the structure of the building has changed over the centuries, visitors will still have a chance to see some remains from Tudor times.

All of the rooms are equipped with en suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs with Freeview channels, hospitality tray, hairdryer and iron.

The property offers an on-site brasserie restaurant serving top-quality English dishes, as well as regional specialities. There is also a bar with fireplaces and beamed walls.

Groupon's Guide To Essex

A host of Grade I- and II-listed buildings offer the base for heritage tourism in Essex, including landmarks like the 7th-century Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall in Bradwell-on-Sea, the Hedingham Castle in Braintree District and the Norman-style Colchester Castle. On top of the approximately 1400 landmarks of historic interest, Essex also boasts a number of unique highlights.

The county is thus home to Finchingfield, the quintessential British village, deemed one of the most beautiful rural hubs of England, and to Great Bentley in the Tendring district, boasting the second largest village green nationwide. Countryside sceneries are complemented by coastal expanses and seascapes, with destinations such as Frinton-on-Sea, Clacton-on-Sea and Mersea Island catering for visitors interested in beach tourism and water sports.

Nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts can head for the wetlands of Abberton Reservoir or for the ancient woodland of Epping Forest. Further pursuits are occasioned by Saffron Walden, a one-of-a-kind blend of rural charm and medieval features, and by the modern-day Lakeside Shopping Centre in West Thurrock, a gargantuan 2600000 square feet shopping centre and one of the largest in Europe.

Excellent Went for a meal here with family the other day and it was excellent. The bar service was fast and efficient and the service was exceptional we was served by Jordan and he was very professional and showed great customer service skills. There was a great menu for drinks and food and drinks were made in front of you while you wait. The atmosphere was lovely and all the Jordan was very attentive to all our needs. Will definitely be returning.

Thank god I am only here for one night! Filthy! What a disappointment! My hotel room is disgusting! Thank goodness I am only here for one night! My room is absolutely rank! The bathroom is awful with mould and dirt in the shower…and the grout is disgusting! Definitely do not stay at this hotel!

Dissatisfied Was very disappointed in the hotel as a whole. Upon arrival booked in fine 4.00pm (my opinion a little late) went to room made a tea and 1 teabag for 2 people, 1 sachet of milk. Went to reception was told it will be topped up tomorrow? So went to local shop to purchase the above. Went to have shower, no shower gel, bottle empty and felt the cubicle could have been cleaner. I know they are to be refurbished in March but at £113 room only my opinion is little extras go a long way. Our room was looking out on high street (305) and unfortunately never slept until 4am when nightclubs etc had turned out. Not hotels fault but as 70 year old it was very upsetting.
