Relaxing weekend away We stayed in Clover way, lodge 2 from Friday 27th February until Sunday 1st March. Firstly I want to say we had a wonderful stay. Waking up to hearing the birds, seeing woodlands and a cute log cabin. Log cabin We loved the log cabin and hot tub. Good size (especially for a three year old and a dog). Bath was a bit small but wasn’t an issue. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Lots of towels provided. Lovely welcome items (sachets of tea, coffee etc. washing liquid, sponge, tea towel, dog blanket, small ball and treats). Parking space near the log cabin. We couldn’t find a key to lock the windows (as didn’t want our child opening them) and the front door wasn’t very child friendly as you could easily open it. The only things to let it down was the maintenance and hygiene. There was a lot of dust in high and low places such as on ceilings and lamps. Lots of cobwebs. Not ideal but not a massive problem for us. The toilet holder was broken. Some random masking tape to the beams of the ceiling. Some cutlery had dry food on it. Our main concern was the black and white mould in the corner of the double bed bedroom. I don’t know what checks are in place with regard to this but the mould shouldn’t be there at all. There was mould in the bathroom i.e. the shower screen and around sealants, but not surprised due to being a bathroom. I am sure these things would have been rectified if we brought it to their attention. As we were staying for two nights and we didn’t want dust flying around and chemicals in the air for mould removal, we didn’t say anything. The general hygiene of the cabin was good, especially being a dog friendly cabin. Surfaces were clean, didn’t smell of dog, not really any dog hairs visible. Hot tub looked clean and there was a member of staff checking the levels on Sunday. Facilities Swimming pool - good changing facilities, good size pools, clean, lockers. A good park, looks new and our little one loved it. Restaurant - reasonable prices, good food and drink, staff were friendly and helpful, an activity centre thing for kids Little shop - such a great idea! Activities- a range of activities. We made our own teddy bear there. Kids disco on Saturday night was fun and the hosts were great. Location In a great location, close to local pubs and Tesco was only 10 mins away. We would definitely stay again, however I would probably ring and ask them to check the rooms for dust and mould before coming. Might be coincidental but we coughed a lot over the weekend and since returning home we haven’t.

Please read before you book… Accommodation cleanliness not acceptable. We stayed 1 night and left the next morning from what should have been a three night stay. We stayed in a “premier” apartment which was tired and worn out, particularly the bathrooms. It needs a complete renovation. Basic hygiene levels were not meet. The drains smelt really bad and leave the apartment with a stale smell. When we got up in the morning, opening the bathroom door was something else. Dust, cobwebs and curly hairs everywhere. I didn’t have my glasses with me and it’s probably a good thing. Hairs in the bed, on the bed side table, in the shower. I ran my toddler a bath, was about to put him in until my husband pointing at the floating “scum” on the water along with curly hairs in the bath. The shower flooded and is covered in black mould that has been siliconed over. That said, we did find the beds comfy at least and the facilities seemed good from our brief stay. I could write a lot more but if i am honest, it was a stressful, un relaxing stay which I’d rather forget about. Especially after wasting all that money. We could of spoken with management before we left, but unless they were going to magic up a clean, refurbished apartment nothing was going to solve this _ I would not recommend the accommodation but if you have a tent or caravan to sleep in, I imagine it’s a nice resort to stay at.

Winter break Just returned from a short 3 night out of season break in a motorhome. Really nice place, in a great location, facilities are superb and clean. Take advantage of the indoor heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, well stocked shop with all the essentials and a coffee/cafe open all day. Forest walks and if you are lucky, wild boar and dear. Definitely will return at some point. Thank you.

Will visit again We stayed at Whitemead Forest Park in Lydney during February half‑term and had a lovely weekend overall. The setting is great for families, with lots to see and do. The adventure trail takes you around the site and highlights lovely spots like the stream, river and lakes near the woodland lodges. It was muddy when we visited, so bring wellies! The facilities were great and the pool was lovely. The Wildboar Coffee Shop is perfect for drinks and cake, but for meals it’s best to eat in the Forester’s Bar, as any food ordered from Wildboar is carried over from there. Crazy Golf was good fun (£6 for an adult and a child goes free), and the staff at the venue desk were friendly and helpful. Our apartment (No. 50) needed some attention — food under the table, smeared windows, hairs in the sink and around the toilet, and a blocked shower drain. Despite that, it’s a lovely park with good facilities, friendly staff, and we’d happily return in our own caravan or campervan.

Great stay touring pitch. This was our first stay at Whitemead on a hard standing touring pitch. Pitch size was fantastic, the park as a whole is well laid out and chemical waste points and rubbish areas were very clean and easy to find. The leisure facilities were great, as it was the end of half term we managed to have a quieter few days and the activities were good value for the money. The lifeguards doing the sea scooters were on the ball and really patient with the kids. The bar is lovely and the boys were happy with the sport offering on tv!! Quite expensive food but expected on a park like this. Breakfast baps were banging according to my teenager and we liked being able to order and collect whilst packing up to save wasting time or having to whip something up in the caravan! My only real criticism is the toilets and showers. Twice I went for a shower and twice they went off to a dribble within 2 minutes. The toilets were not regularly cleaned. I didn’t see a single cleaner in there all weekend and the smell by Monday was rather whiffy. There was poo up the back of one of the seats which one of us reported on Saturday and again monday when the showers still weren’t working properly and it was still there Monday morning. As someone with an auto immune disease and very low immune system I would at least expect a decent loo and a working shower but really any one deserves that when they’re paying for the basics. I’d also expect something to be done after two reports. Overall a great stay and we will definitely go back, just with a few considerations in mind. I forgot to mention the dog wash! It’s warm :) very happy dogs!!
