My name is Rafa. I am nine years old. I went to Wessex Sussex Falconry with my uncle, and we had a great day.
First, we met Sally, who runs the falconry. We had tea and delicious cake while we waited for the others to arrive. Then Sally showed us each of her owls and told us their history and shared stories about them.
Next, we got to hold a couple of owls using the leather falconry gloves that Sally provided. Finally, we took a barn owl to a nearby field and watched it fly from one person to another.
Sally is very enthusiastic about her birds, and her enthusiasm spreads to the visitors. It was wonderful to meet the owls, learn about them, and interact with them.

Sally is an amazing host; obviously adores her birds and knows each one extremely well.
A fantastic experience from start to finish. Great welcome with tea or coffee and a lovely slice of cake, interesting background information then introductions to each of the birds after which we were all able to handle two.
The finale was to walk to the local field and experience flying one of the birds; absolutely incredible!
