From Our Editors
Recognised as one of the finest 18 hole courses in and around Glasgow, Balmore Golf Club welcomes players of all levels to this beautiful location, and has done so for more than 100 years. The greens of Balmore Golf Club are all newly brought up to USGA standards, meaning that putting is as true as one's aim. The course plays par to 66, so it is not one of those places where the golfer is forever reaching for his or her big driver; rather it rewards touch and accuracy around the fringes and the putting surface, making it a good place to improve skills. Despite being located just seven miles from Glasgow city centre, Balmore Golf Club enjoys stunning scenery and great views across open countryside. For corporate hospitality trips and one-off visits, the clubhouse can cater for specific requirements and the members are proud to explain any local bylaws to visiting players. When playing at Balmore Golf Club, gentlemen are expected to dress smartly, both out on the course and in the club house. The lady golfers' skirts should cover the knee, and trousers are also allowed for women here. The calendar of events at Balmore Golf Club is fairly busy around the summer months, with club contests for gents, ladies, pairs and juniors. Therefore, when planning a visit, it is advisable to plan ahead.
