The virtuosos at The Guitar Workshop pay tribute to each of the six strings with a range of lessons and a shop full of new and used instruments. Budding rock stars can learn the way of the guitar with ten 30-minute, one-on-one lessons. Lessons will be tailored to each individual student's requirements, and can be designed to incorporate their favourite playing style, whether it be blues, rock, heavy metal, or otherwise. Guitar hire is included during the lessons, which come with a 10% discount on future lessons booked. A further 20% optional discount can be redeemed against any guitar purchased from the shop.
Groupon Asks Chris Burbela, proprietor of The Guitar Workshop, about the roots of his musical obsession, and the staff's approach to tuition.
G: At what age did you start playing?
"I started when I was 23. I'd always wanted to play but it was something I'd put off for a long time. I've always had a big appreciation for musicians but didn't think I had what it took. However, I tried one lesson and from there I was hooked."
G: How does your approach to teaching children differ when teaching adults?
"We have several teachers suited to differing ages and genres of music, and we pair tutors to pupils accordingly. We find that children often want to get playing songs straight away. Alternatively, for advanced students we can work on techniques and explore alternative genres as they wish."
G: What advice would give someone who has always wanted to be able to play but is worried they won't have the time to practice?
"Picking up the guitar is very rewarding. Many surprise themselves and find they can't put the thing down after their first lesson. 10-20 mins a day practice should see you hitting your targets for improvement."
