From Our Editors

Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum brings together the worlds of science, technology, astronomy, zoology, biology and more, demonstrated through 200 hands-on displays. Visitors can discover facts about the ancient past and learn about new inventions for the future. Guests to the Planetarium can marvel at the night's sky as they find out about what lies beyond our planet.

Back on Earth, the science and industry collection represents 250 years of technological development using over 40,000 items. Tools and production machines provide an insight into the industrial heritage of Birmingham, alongside displays about engineering, musical instruments and computing.

Visitors can also explore the natural world in the wildlife gallery which contains around 250,000 specimens that cover everything from botany to geology. They'll also be able to learn more about the science behind everyday life, human biology and modern medicine.

Good afternoon out with the family. Good deal through Groupon but we wouldn't have paid the normal full amount as some hands on items were broken and the garden was closed.

Great day out & good value for money using a Groupon. We went on a Saturday & I would advise going early as by mid afternoon it became extremely busy. Planetarium show is an extra £1.50 pp but well worth it, it really makes the whole experience. Unfortunately the science garden was shut the day we visited we were given a free return voucher for the garden only.

An amazing day out with a 5 year old and 3 year old. Great, clean facilities for families with small children. All in all a fantastic place to visit.

Great for adults and children alike. A couple of exhibits are a bit tired and in need of updating or repair. It is quite cold for the outside science garden this time of year but will be making this an annual family trip, perfect for summer holidays time!

Negatives: shame that a few displays are still not working. The Lego event wasn’t longer and catered more to learning new skills. The queue in the cafe is so long even though only one till point was open. Positives: Plenty to see and do. The Spitfire display and games were interesting. The station where we could handle exhibits and have questions answered by staff was useful. The science garden is good fun all year round. All in all it’s a fun day out and I would return again.

The museum is a fun and educational place for children of all ages to visit. We took our daughter at almost 11 and she had a wonderful time, however we have taken her to museums as a very young child and ThinkTank has everything children need to learn and thrive.
