From Our Editors

At Brighton’s Proud Cabaret, guests are privy to a host of cabaret, jazz and burlesque performances as they dine in settings which evoke the feel of prohibition-era speakeasies. Audiences are encouraged to dress up to the nines in period-appropriate garbs, and can tuck into seasonal set menus as they watch belly dancing, hula-hooping or classic striptease.

Honestly one of the best nights! The acts are fantastic and ooze a mixture of class and pure hilarity! The food was lovely. The staff were wonderful. The host of the night had me wheezing. Okay yes, there were a lot of hen parties there, being very VERY loud. But it’s all in good fun, they are having a nice night and as long as you know it’s going to be a bit loud, and just go with it. Then you’ll have fun. My only small issue and I mean small, is how expensive the cocktails are, I’m from London and it was a bit of a shock, so expect to spend a fare amount if you are looking to have the full experience.

On a whole we really enjoyed the night. I did find the table service at the beginning of the night not so good as we turned up at 6.30 to make the most of the bottomless cocktails but found our waitress didn’t realise we had the cocktails so didn’t come to us until 7.15. Also the bottomless cocktails is a bit of a con as there is no option to choose a cocktail from a menu, you just get rum punch which they top up when they get time (they are very busy) and it stops at 8. The food was average but okay. If I was to do this again I would skip the cocktails and food and just go to the show at 8. The acts are very good and entertaining. Drink prices are crazy expensive all over £10. If your up for a fun night and you don’t mind the expensive drinks I’d give it a go as the show it’s self is a good laugh.

I feel bad about giving a low rating but for me the cabaret was small scale, tacky and not abound with talent. That said the food was good, the concept could have been good but sadly it was full of hen parties and my partner and I were stuck on a table with a lovely drunken group of ladies. The staff did recognise how uncomfortable we were but the place was so packed couldn't do anything to help.

I have only booked a table, at the moment, but the man on phone was so nice. I hope the rest of my experience is going to be a good.
