From Our Editors

At Brighton’s Proud Cabaret, guests are privy to a host of cabaret, jazz and burlesque performances as they dine in settings which evoke the feel of prohibition-era speakeasies. Audiences are encouraged to dress up to the nines in period-appropriate garbs, and can tuck into seasonal set menus as they watch belly dancing, hula-hooping or classic striptease.

Really good night! Something a bit different. Food was good, show was good, atmosphere was brilliant however drinks was really expensive. After the shows finished you can stay and drink etc but at £10/£12 a drink we decided to leave. If I had paid normal price of £60 each I wouldn’t have been happy, But with this deal it’s a bargain!

The show was fantastic, but the service for the meal was awful! Had to wait over 2 hours for our meal, and a further hour for pudding and then was charged a £20 service charge at the end!!

They charge you £10 extra per person if you book on a Saturday. This is not mentioned on the Groupon voucher (it states Saturday is included within the terms & conditions)and before buying the Groupon voucher I called them up to check costs as I was booking for a group of 8 friends, they stated to me that their would be a one off booking fee of £10 and they also confirmed that it wasn't person. I purchased the Groupon after speaking with my friends then called them up to book, this is when they then stated it was £10 extra per person on a Saturday! I said that someone had said it was only a one off booking fee of £10 and it wasn't per person. They first of all said it was my mistake (how frustrating), then they changed their stance and said it was a policy change in regards to Saturday's. I said that this was unfair and rediculous as that increases the cost by £80. If this was mentioned on the groupon i would have never given it a second look. They said it was a really good deal. Well from my perspective the Groupon deal was a complete lie, the groupon never mentioned this extra charge, even calling them prior to purchasing never helped! After organising 8 friends dates etc it was difficult to not go ahead and book as so much time and effort had gone into organiding so I had to book (I could have got a refund), so they take advantage of people as they know once you have purchased a voucher for a group of people time and effort goes into organising prior to booking. Not a good business would never recommend.

Great evening with a sting in the tail. An unadvertised £8.99 service charge and £10 for one glass of prosecco. Still worth a visit if you are prepared for this.

The performers were good. Very very expensive drinks. £44 for a bottle of prosseco, £10 a cocktail. Food was ok but not as good as expected. The offer for bottomless cocktails was changed for one glass of prosseco on arrival instead. Service charge of 12.5% is added to all bills and is compulsory for tables of 6+!!

Used our vouchers for the first Thursday of the month. What a surprise, very entertaining and exciting with new host and performers. My only criticism is the lady with the fire, I felt her act was more suited for an outdoor event as it was to toxic in the room after she finished. Food excellent, service excellent and new decor stunning!

Honestly one of the best nights! The acts are fantastic and ooze a mixture of class and pure hilarity! The food was lovely. The staff were wonderful. The host of the night had me wheezing. Okay yes, there were a lot of hen parties there, being very VERY loud. But it’s all in good fun, they are having a nice night and as long as you know it’s going to be a bit loud, and just go with it. Then you’ll have fun. My only small issue and I mean small, is how expensive the cocktails are, I’m from London and it was a bit of a shock, so expect to spend a fare amount if you are looking to have the full experience.

On a whole we really enjoyed the night. I did find the table service at the beginning of the night not so good as we turned up at 6.30 to make the most of the bottomless cocktails but found our waitress didn’t realise we had the cocktails so didn’t come to us until 7.15. Also the bottomless cocktails is a bit of a con as there is no option to choose a cocktail from a menu, you just get rum punch which they top up when they get time (they are very busy) and it stops at 8. The food was average but okay. If I was to do this again I would skip the cocktails and food and just go to the show at 8. The acts are very good and entertaining. Drink prices are crazy expensive all over £10. If your up for a fun night and you don’t mind the expensive drinks I’d give it a go as the show it’s self is a good laugh.
