From Our Editors

Dudley Zoological Gardens are home to over 1300 animals, including endangered species such as Sumatran tigers, Bornean orangutans, Tibetan red pandas and Humboldt penguins. Established in 1937, the Gardens cover an area of approximately 40 acres, boasting an 11th-century castle and limestone caverns as well as Grade II listed Tecton buildings, which were awarded World Monument Status in 2009. Guests can see the animals during a regular visit, adopt one to help preserve the zoo, or arrange a private event on site.

Nice zoo and beautiful castle. But I will say it looks like they could do with some money to spend on renovation.

Lovely day out but because it was so cold many of the animals didn't make an appearance. Hoping they will do another deal for the school summer holidays so we can go again and experience seeing more animals

A great day out. If you haven't been there for a long time like me, you will be suprised how good it is. Clean and well looked after animals with a caring workforce. Looking to revisit in the summer. Added extra you get a great workout walking around the Zoo, remember to wear your fitbit!

The zoo was great, despite the snow and sub zero temperatures we had a good day. The kids spoke to some of the keepers and they were all friendly, patient and very knowledgable. We listened to the talks at feeding time for a few of the different animals and the keepers were enthusiastic and genuinely cared about the animals. The zoo itself is well laid out, clean and easy to find everything, other than a couple ignorance where building work was happening but the staff pointed us in the right direction to pass it safely. The only down point to the day was the restaurant, which I believe is sub-contracted and not actually run by the zoo. Very long queueing times, more tHan 20 minutes stood waiting just to order food which were then told was a 30 minute wait. It wasn't at all busy, as we said, middle of winter, so would hate to see it in peak times. I would advise taking your own food and avoid the cafe completely. But otherwise a great, bargain prices day out.
