Located in Mailbox mall in central Birmingham, Shogun welcomes connoisseurs and the curious alike to sample their take on traditional Japanese cuisine. The modern interior is home to a noodle bar and 'sushi train' conveyor belt for customers who love to pick and choose fresh plates for themselves. A more spectacular mode of dining can be found at the teppanyaki tables where highly skilled chefs dazzle onlookers as they cook their meals on a hot plate right in front of them, slicing and dicing their way through an impressive interactive performance.

Food average, pleasant staff but little atmosphere possibly due to visit being on a Tuesday evening.
The Groupon menu has fewer options than the standard menu and number of courses is misleading. For example, 1 prawn is a course.

Our first visit to a Japanese restaurant, and really enjoyed the experience. Pleasant attentive staff who explained how the food would be prepared and served. Seated in groups (up to 12) around 3 sides of a central cooking/hot plate. The layout encourages inter-action with other diners, and our time talking with Kim and Dorothy further enhanced our appreciation of the event.

It’s not worth the money the piece of salmon was ridiculous I wouldn’t give it to my cat, the food wasn’t restaurant standard but the man doing the live cooking service was very good and engaging with our table:) 5 stars for him
