From Our Editors

Fishbourne Roman Palace & Gardens immerses visitors in opulent Roman grandeur at one of the largest surviving residences of that era. The site features original mosaic floor patterns, preserving the intricate work of ancient artists. Outside, the extensive gardens provide guests with further insight into how the site may have appeared to its original owners. The plant beds have been replanted in their original 1st-century trenches, and demonstrate a striking example of one of the earliest formal gardens found in the country. Visitors can also stop by the cafe to refresh with a choice of a slice of cake and a regular filtered coffee or pot of tea for adults, or a carton of juice for children.

If you want to see the most Beautiful Roman Mosaics and get a glimpse of how the Romans lived take a visit to Fishbourne Roman Palace. We visited here with 4 children under the age of 10. They loved it, everything is set out to be child friendly with a special area just for them to make their own mosaic patterns, Roman Palace and learn about a Roman soldiers Uniform and much more. A wonderful morning trip out.

There is so much to see and it is displayed most effectively. The guides are very informative, immensely patient and able to deal with comments from youngsters who may not be as polite as they should be. Plenty of open space to expend energy and good food in the café. Thoroughly recommended.
