From Our Editors

London Elizabeth Hotel is located on the doorstep of Hyde Park, opposite Lancaster Gate tube station. Originally built as three private houses in 1850, the 4* establishment was used as billeting for the Polish Air Force during World War Two and has had various additions which still stand to this day, including a cast iron conservatory that overlooks the gardens. As it stands today, the hotel maintains a large number of the original features as well as the inclusion of a number of modern facilities. The 49 rooms all differ from one another but all feature en suite bathrooms as well as various amenities, with the Hyde Park suite offering incredible balcony views of its namesake. Dining can take place in a range of areas including the restaurant, the bar, lobby lounge, or the garden terrace, which boasts a rose and herb garden.

We went on a very hot day and there was no air conditioning in the restaurant. The tea was okay but not served in the old vintage cups like in the picture. Cakes were dry as not very appetising. Scones were lovely.

The food was ok. I asked for scrambled eggs and got an omelette instead which was a bit annoying, but I ate it anyway and it was fine. The service was weird - it was like there was no one around and I had to keep getting up to ask for a drink etc.

When we arrived they said they had no record of our booking despite me calling to confirm several days before. The food was nice but most of the desert menue choices weren't available which was a real shame. The prosecco was okay as expected with the low price but could have done with more frequent refills. If the restaurant spends more on staffing it would be a lot better, 2 servers were running the whole place so you can't really blame them.

Beautiful hotel. The afternoon tea was lovely and alot of it. I couldn't praise the staff enough. They were helpful and kind. It was my mother in laws birthday and they surprised her with cake and sang happy birthday.

Have been to London Elizabeth for afternoon tea before and although sandwiches and cake were very nice I didn't feel there was enough of it this time. Staff and surroundings very pleasant.

We had a high tea in a very chique and elegant tea room of the hotel. Nice services and very acceptable price thanks to Groupon
