Vedic Age is an Ayurvedic health clinic situated in Lewisham High Street, London SE13. It was established in February 2010. The intention of the clinic is to introduce its customers to medicines and oils imported directly from the Indian state of Kerala. The clinic provides a new and natural way of addressing physical and psychological problems. The word “ayurveda” can be translated either as “the knowledge of life”, or “the science of life.” It is a medical philosophy covering all aspects of life. The web site contains considerable detail about the origins of Ayurvedism. The clinic offers a variety of treatments. It also has tourist information relating to Kerala and can offer beauty treatments. The clinic is open every day except Tuesday. Vedic Age offers Ayurvedic consultations conducted by an Ayurvedic physician. These are of fifteen minutes duration. The physician will suggest suitable therapies and give advice on diet and lifestyle. The clinic can perform a variety of massages including a full body massage with specially selected oil. This massage takes from forty-five minutes to one hour. Benefits of this massage include relaxation of the muscles and endow the subject with a general feeling of well-being. It is also possible to have a massage which employs a “medicated bolus bag”. The bolus bag contains leaves cooked in oils which have healing effects. This treatment can help alleviate the effects of arthritis, spondylosis, sciatica, sports injuries and muscular pain. Full details of these treatments and others are available on Vedic Age's web site.
