Completed 'shadow a keeper experience' for 2 on Nov 25th 2016. Brilliant afternoon spent with felicity telling us all about the animals. the guys are clearly passionate about what they do and it was nice to get up close to each animal in their enclosures and hand them their food. Great experience and would love to return in the future to see how this new site expands. Definitely recommend to any animal lovers out there!

It's a very small enterprise but they are very friendly and we had a very enjoyable and educational visit. Adam was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions.

Highly recommend. James one of the full time staff had amazing patience and enthusiasm when showing my eight year old nephew and a young lady around the enclosures. He had an abundance of knowledge and clearly cared very much for the welfare of the animals etc. The conservation centre is small and I felt that this was a great benefit as my nephew was able to spend over three hours as a junior zoo keeper with some pretty amazing animals. Main stream zoo's will generally limit an eight year olds exposure to the rabbits, goats etc. My nephew was able to feed meerkats, lemurs and stroke a skunk and went home a very happy little boy. Hemsley is based on the left side of an unmade road, just before you approach the garden centre. But you need to drive on down the lane past Hemsley to park at the garden centre and then walk back, it only takes a couple of minutes. The garden centre is not connected, financially or otherwise, to the conservation centre but has a lovely cafe which has only been open for a couple of months. It serves good quality food at reasonable prices so is a nice place to pop into during your visit. The weather was mild and dry when we visited in late October but a warm jacket and closed in shoes or boots would be recommended during the winter months. An unwanted bag of carrots from my fridge were gratefully received so any spare fruit and veg that you might have to donate would probably go down a treat. This is a lovely little place and well worth a visit

Brilliant experience for kids to learn about endangered species and being a zoo keeper. Friendly and professional staff. The centre is small but that adds to the experience.

Hemsley is small and compact (don't expect any large zoo enclosures here). They haven't been open long and clearly it is a work in progress. It reminded me a bit of Noah's Ark; many animals in pairs and a lot of carpentry work going on! However, the staff clearly are dedicated to what they are doing and are enthusiastic about their charges! We fed Irwin, a friendly Kinkajou. It was just lovely to get up close and personal with him. Good luck Hemsley. We will be back to see how things are going

Friendly staff who made my son's Junior Zookeeper Experience so enjoyable and totally hands on. My hubby was really impressed at how knowledgeable and experienced the young staff were. Can't recommend Hemsley Conservation Centre highly enough, even if you just want to visit the animals. They do offer a range of experiences however, so check out their website!

Fabulous day out with the kids as junior zookeepers. Quite a small place so would get round it quickly if just visiting but the zookeeper experience was fantastic. The kids fed the limas, meerkats and porcupine, amongst others, and the whole thing lasted around 4 and a half hours. Well worth the journey from London! The kids were thrilled and absolutely loved it and James our zookeeper was brilliant! Highly recommend the junior zookeeper experience!
