It was a pleasant experience but people that book in the future should be aware that this is rather a small tea Room and maybe not to everyone's taste especially if they have visited the building before. Not the standard you often get for afternoon tea.

This is a great place with fantastic staff and the food is the best value out there. We have had afternoon teas in some very expensive hotels in the Lake District that don't come anywhere near the offering of the Village Tea Rooms. I can not understand any of the other negative feedbacks. It is clean, and cosy, but if you want the Ritz, then go and pay the Ritz prices, but you won't leave there as satisfied and happy with the value for money that is the Village Tea Rooms. Thank you, girls, for a lovely afternoon tea, we will be back. Many Regards, David and Gila.

The place was hard to find and when I did I was looking for a 'tea room' instead I got a cafe. Staff were friendly but venue was quirky and we had the smallest wobblest table so not much room for anything. Sandwiches were ok, cakes on the other hand.........I expected home made cakes and instead got a frozen, squished cream strawberry gateaux, a few small fruit style cake and one covered in chocolate what was dry and a deflated carrot cake that was shop bought. There was scones that I brought home, never ate as they didn't look the best and also staff put on the jam and cream. I like to do this myself. The best thing about the afternoon tea was the tea. We had little cup and saucers and it was loose tea, and really enjoyed. Personally this place is good for breakfasts etc, but afternoon tea, not my style and not what was expected! Cakes were not fresh and looked shop bought.

Slightly whacky place but in keeping with the antiques village concept. China place settings. Proper leaf tea and hot water provided for top up. Good selection of sandwiches and cakes and of course the scones with jam & cream to finish. Excellant !
