From Our Editors

Established in 1996, Seven Stories is a museum devoted to children's literature, illustrations and storytelling. Named The National Centre for Children's Books in 2012, the museum turned a seven-storey Victorian flour mill into a hub for exhibitions, storytellers and events. Little ones can also visit the basement studio, where they can dress up, draw and play to become immersed in the stories they read. The centre is packed with reading corners, and available for birthday parties and venue hire.

You are able to take a picnic and eat it on level 1 which I didn’t know so we ate at ouseburn farm as the cafe was full to capacity

Every visit I've made with my toddler the staff have been fantastic and I can't praise them enough, from front desk to the shop and last but not least the story time in the loft which never fails to captivate and entertain all ages. The exhibitions we've visited have been well thought out, engaging and interactive. Excellent range of books, and great relaxed spaces to enjoy choosing one! The cafe shuts early (and not a great choice for the price) but there is a cheerful 'picnic' area. An enjoyable place my 3 year old and I love to revisit!

Had a lovely day out here with our daughters who are both 2 years old. They loved the story times and how they were involved in telling the story. The craft area downstairs was great too. The cafe food not much choice and a bit over priced for what you got, but was tasty. Would definitely recommend and will be back for another visit.

My granddaughter enjoyed the trip to seven stories . All the staff were very friendly and the building is very child friendly . I think my granddaughter enjoyed the crafts and story telling sessions the most . We were lucky to get reduced price tickets off groupon I'm not sure if I would have paid full price for the experience as without the coupon tickets are quite expensive .

Some lovely exhibitions and fab craft activities on, having the annual pass means we can just go for a few hours whenever. Only having 1 lift is a pain, especially when you are waiting with a pram but can't get in because it is full of people who would be able to walk up/down stairs!
