From Our Editors

Established in 1996, Seven Stories is a museum devoted to children's literature, illustrations and storytelling. Named The National Centre for Children's Books in 2012, the museum turned a seven-storey Victorian flour mill into a hub for exhibitions, storytellers and events. Little ones can also visit the basement studio, where they can dress up, draw and play to become immersed in the stories they read. The centre is packed with reading corners, and available for birthday parties and venue hire.

Very poor, this was our second time visiting, but our 2nd experience was not as good as the first time we visited. Only one story at 1pm there was an early one at 10.30am, 3.30pm story time was for a baby group. The woman telling the story wasn't very enthusiastic and didn't seem to be child friendly. Restaurant very poor, take a packed lunch. Won't be returning.

Kids love seven stories, staff are so friendly and really engage the children. We really enjoy story time in the attic and look forward to seeing which stories will be picked. Can spend the whole day there or with the annual pass we sometimes pop in for a play before collecting partner from work.

Lovely, friendly staff. Lots to do from making things to reading together to listening to story-tellers. Plenty of hands-on play activities for younger ones. Wide variety of author activities/ writing and science sessions performances on throughout the year that have a small charge but you can then visit the rest of the centre with your pass. Cafe is small but food is tasty and there is also a packed lunch area. Annual passes are excellent value.
