Taking in striking coastal views, the 19th century Whitsand Bay Hotel offers a quiet retreat for nature lovers and those looking to get away from the daily grind. The hotel sits close to the sand and shingle beaches of Portwinkle, which can also be used by experienced surfers. Further afield, drivers can find themselves at Wild Futures monkey sanctuary within 13 minutes, and Plymouth in 36 minutes. Home comforts abound in the rooms, with a television and hairdryer, plus tea and coffee making facilities for warming up bodies after bracing seaside strolls. Two eateries, the Bay Restaurant and the Eddystone Bistro, serve up a selection of nibbles and more substantial meals, with locally sourced ingredients used wherever possible. On-site leisure facilities for guests to retreat to for a little R&R include a sauna and steam room, heated indoor pool, and a mini fitness area. There’s also a selection of treatments available, from manicures to facials. Both the hotel and on-site pub are dog friendly, with one pet welcome to stay with guests for a surcharge.
