Aiming to create more realistic surfaces than other forms of artificial grass, 3G pitches look to mimic the appearance and playing characteristics of natural grass while offering safer falls. The non-abrasive surfaces can be played on in moulded or plastic screw in studs, and provide enhanced grip to allow greater ball control. Available for training, games and kickabouts, pitches (usually up to £30 per session) range in size from five-a-side or seven-a-side to those large enough to cater for full match play. A full match is three sets of one session.
