Salinas is an open sea town in Asturias, on the north coast of Spain, known as “Surf City”.
The presence of Biscay and its long beaches such as the beach of San Juan de Nieva make Salinas a suitable spot for surfing, bodyboarding and windsurfing. It is the place where The Vans Salinas Longboard Surf Festival is held during the summer, in the last week of July, an event for local and international surfers. Organised for 11 years, this festival is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, and represents a chance to glide over the waves, listen to music, and discover Asturian gastronomy and natural attractions. Quiet moments may be spent walking on the promenade or relaxing in one of the parks such as Deva or Los Patos.
