The Deal
Families can design clocks, torches and plane launchers at Making It! Discovery Centre. Visitors will be given components and design sheets to make their tool to eventually take home for use. They will also have the chance to explore different materials, solve bar code puzzles and enter the bottle-filling challenge.
The Merchant
Scientists and engineers of all ages are in the making at Making It! Discovery Centre. Both children and adults can put their designing skills to work while creating their own fizzy drink, putting their own assembly line to work, and having a crack at 3D computer-aided design – among several other invention opportunities. Visitors can also design, test and package products of their own, including a space rocket, fairground carousel and motorised dragster, before taking them home to use at their leisure. The Mansfield centre, close to the railway station, provides the majority of equipment for the activities, and also boasts a shop and cafe.
