Groupon finds out about the international flavours at Marco Polo, and how its namesake influences everything from dish to glass.
What is the concept behind the restaurant?
The restaurant’s name was inspired by Marco Polo, the Venetian-born traveller who recorded his adventures through Asia – namely China and Mongolia – in his 13th century travelogue, Livres des Merveilles du Monde. With that in mind, the chefs have recreated a menu of worldly flavours to provide their customers with a dining experience as unique as Marco Polo’s.
What's on the menu?
The main menu lists dishes from around the world, with picks including the Mongolian lamb with egg noodles, ginger, and spring onions; seafood risotto with mussels, calamari, prawns, and cockles; and even loin of Highland venison with parsnip crisps, sweet potato dauphinoise and a chocolate jus.
There are lunch, pre-theatre, and dinner menus, plus a bar that showcases drinks from around the world.
